On a personal note, let me say I'm happy I don't live up that way anymore. Since I moved back home to Texas, I missed that horrible snowstorm two years ago, and now this.
Apparently Rhode Island is completely underwater right now or something?
Everything is closed right now and it sucks. I like having an excuse to fuck around on the internet and do nothing all day as much as anyone, but I did have things to do today.
I'm OK -- the storm still hasn't hit me full force yet, should be a few hours from now. Right now it just looks like a gloomy wet windy day outside, but I'm starting to hear the wind whip from time to time. What I'm seeing on TV looks worse, south of me in Midtown and below.
No power outages in my area yet, but Con Ed is calling people in other parts of town letting them know that they may be preventatively turning off the power for safety reasons. FUN!
Oh, fun -- there's a huge crane dangling from the top of a half-finished high-rise on West 57th St. and they're clearing the block because it may just fall and bounce off other buildings on its way down. (This is way south of me, I just saw it on TV)
Wind is getting stronger outside while I'm writing -- whee!
My niece's husband owns a landscaping business, but he specializes in chopping down and clearing trees. He's like a kid in a candy store today. He gets the same way in wintertime when it snows, he just hooks up the plow on the truck and CHING CHING.
