Wild hog attacks St. Petersburg woman
ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- A 26-year-old woman survived a stare-down with a massive wild hog in her own backyard on Monday morning.
According to St. Petersburg Fire Rescue, the woman walked out of her home on 23rd Avenue after someone told her a pig was in her backyard just before 9 a.m.
There was, but it wasn't a little pig. It was a 200 pound feral hog.
Officials say the hog came out from behind the shed and charged the unsuspecting woman and gave her an abrasion on the back of her left leg.
Paramedics arrived and didn't have luck trying to capture the massive animal.
"The hog was very aggressive," stated Lt. Dan Robinson. "At one point during the capture, the hog had me running for cover up a six foot wooden fence."
Animal Control officer Bill Warzybok finally managed to lasso the hog which was taken to the Pinellas County Animal Control Office to be tested for rabies.
The woman was treated for her injury at the scene.
