Geedis' latest strip is up....and it's the worst one yet....

I get it, mainly because I was a huge fan of C & H way back when. I remember they had a whole series of strips on the transmogrifier.

But this just isn't funny. Sorry. If this is the result of two or three weeks' worth of idea planning, don't give up your day job.

Wait, do you HAVE a day job?

It's not my strip, I'm just trying to ascertain whether or not jack got the joke. He said he didn't, then he said he did. Where do you come in?

WAITAMINNIT!!!!!

I think I finally get the joke that's been happening all along! Go back to the web host for the strip, and change "Weekly web comic" to "weakly" funnies. Then everything becomes clear. We've all been pwned because it was MEANT to suck major ass....

No place. I gave the strip a fair shot, read every single one, and it just. isn't. funny.

That's not to say geedis can't get work for archie comics, they aren't funny either. But for rib-splitting gags, he needs to get a writer quick.

That being said, this is Troll Kingdom, and it hurts to post here. Wear a cup...

Whether or not it's a bad joke is irrelevant. Jack seems to think it's a pretty obscure joke.

To reference a strip that's been defunct for over a decade? Pretty obscure. That'd be like calling one of your characters Shermy after Charlie Brown's best friend.

Um, Calvin and Hobbes remains one of the most famous and well-loved comics of all time. A more apt comparison would be "it's like calling onve of your characters 'snoopy' and expecting people to get it."

Not exactly. The strip referenced Calvin and Hobbes, sure, and everyone recognized them. But the strip also referenced an obscure, week-long gag about the Transmogrifier that only old geeks like me would remember, and worse it based the entire gag on it. A decade is a long time. There is an entire generation who have no idea what Calvin and Hobbes was about aside from the parody they saw on Robot Chicken.

That's obscure. And irregardless, still not funny.

The transmogrifier was a recurring part of C&H, often in the Sunday strips. Anyone with a collection or two would surely recognize the allusion.

But why didn't jack? That's what I'm after.

So you and Donovan got the joke. But not jack, it seems.

I think I got it, I'm guessing the strip's main point is that the author can't think of something original or creative, and must rip off another artist to get material. Here's the funny part, though, it's not funny in the slightest, so it's a rip off for nothin'. Am I right?

Yes it is, just an obscure one. Get it? It's a redundancy not in common use for some time, and yeah I used it on purpose.
Irregardless is a term that has caused controversy since it first appeared in the early twentieth century. It is generally listed in dictionaries as "non-standard".

I suppose your use of it was cromulent enough.

The joke is that everyone is discussing a strip that most of them don't like. Let's all meet back here Friday to talk about the next strip, OK?

Or we could all jam shrimp forks into our own eyes and laugh just about as hard.
