Ghostbusters

I did see that, but I wouldn't have known she was the same person in Paul, which is the other thing I have seen her in.

I guess I am just not seeing the programs and films she is well known for.

I know the original ghostbustesr also came up from SNL, but not having seen much of that either, my real exposure to them was stripes, and blues brothers, 1941 ect.

I'm pretty sure the original Ghostbusters would have been just as good if I had no idea what the actors were in before. Which is what it would have been like when I first watched it as a child.

Can I just mention that Kate McKinnon is hot, thanks.

I really wanted this to be good but the trailer is painfully unfunny.

An Excorcist joke, followed by "that's going to leave a mark!", followed by sassy loud black woman (wouldnt it have been nice if she was a scientist this time?) isn't a good note to end on.

Yeah the big negative in this is the mirror-character casting. The "street" ghostbuster is black again.

But then, if you are offered Leslie Jones, you pretty much have to let Leslie Jones do Leslie Jones for you.

I am not discouraged, I think there's a bunch of good in this and I remain hopeful.

It's Paul Feig, so that means less witty snark (Harold Ramis was too dead to write this one) and more slapstick. It will be a different kind of funny.

That still seems like a film I would watch.

I am still hopeful for this film.

Kate McKinnon looks amazing in this film.

This film looks fucking terrible. Has nothing to do with it being all "wimminz" I was fine with that. What I'm not fine with is this looking like a complete cash in and pandering to the lowest common denominator with lazy as shit humor and a complete lack of any of the feel of the original. Sure, there was slapstick and goofiness in the original but this just feels flat and flashy at the same time. This "humor" is so fucking played out. It's a trailer so I will reserve judgement but honestly it looks even worse than I thought it would at this point.

Someone recut the trailer removing all the dumb shit and exposition and cringey comedy "bits". Immediately looks better. Shame we already know all that crap is in the film though.

My main issue is that it looks like a total one to one remake of the original (right down to the first ghost they meet being a lady in the library, except in the original she was pretty scary whereas here she just pukes on them because lol puke), complete with sad piano version of the original theme. I just don't see the point. But maybe the humour will be better in the movie. I thought the Deadpool trailer was pretty unfunny but that turned out good (or so I'm told!)

Even though the original was always pushing for laughs the reason it worked was because there was a level of "horror" to the ghosts in it. That's my memory of it at least. They seem to have removed all of that for poor SNL bits. I'm not hopeful.
