A poem on the base of a statue doesn't establish immigration policy; Congress does.
You want to know a secret about those shithole countries? They need revolutions. They need people to overthrow the shithole governments installed in them and make those countries better -- for everyone who lives in them, not just for the ones who want to run away for a better life somewhere else.
If we don't let them run here, we're hurting them. Tough, because if we do let them run here, we're destroying the rest of them. Let the ones who do want a better life stay there and fix things so that they and all their countrymen can have a better life.
