Glee

Fuddlemiff

Is this real life?
Anyone here like it? I'm sure I've seen Eggs mention it... but maybe I just imagined it because it's the kind of thing he'd be into.

Saw the first two episodes last night. Musicals are always a hit or miss thing for me. The rictus grins and over all campness often put me off, but this show's not bad.

Even by the crazy standards of US shows, the in your face moralising does go way overboard. But I can't tell if that's supposed to be ironic, or if it's genuine. Everything else is nicely poked fun at, so maybe. I hope so.

Anyway, I like how they pull out a showstopper at the end of every ep to keep you hooked. :)

I've tried, but it's just not my thing. Even with Jane Lynch in it.

It's the best new show in a long time. LOVE IT! Cassie and I discuss it more at length at rEFCL. In terms of ironic/earnest, it's a little of both. The tone/style of the show is decidedly over-the-top, so you could say there's an element of fantasy, but the cartoon behavior is based on real/true feelings. I laugh my ass off most of the time, but the show rarely fails to get me a little misty, too.

It won the Golden Globe for Best Comedy last night, and it's only been on for half a season. The first 13 eps that have alreadty aired are sort of a mini-season in itself; there's a lot of resolution in episode 13. (Maybe they were worried they wouldn't get picked up for a full season at first -- but it's already been given the OK for season 2).

Unfortunately, the rest of season 1 doesn't start up again until April, when American Idol finishes. But it should be worth the wait.

WATCH IT ALL NOW AND LOVE IT! GO!

I REALLY HAVE TRIED, BUT MUSICAL SHOWS JUST AREN'T MY THING I'M SORRY I'M A LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSER

:(

Speaking of Glee winning, was anyone else surprised that Julianna Margolis won for The Good Wife? *eyeroll* I'm just glad 30 Rock didn't runaway with everything like they normally do, since I think it's one of the most overrated shows EVAH

Yeah, I've seen a half-dozen 30 Rocks. and while the snappy dialogue makes me laugh, the overall tone of the show is too...lightweight. It's like the whole show is one of those funny American Express commercials. It's very tasty, but empty calories.

(I tried not to say "girlie" because of the sexist connotation, but...it's just so damn girlie LOL)

BTW...I just registered at your board. ;)

Ta-da!!! :)

The Good Wife is starting over here sometime this week, but the ads don't make it look like much fun.

TOO MUCH TV

Glee is awesome! I love love love the camp, sometimes I like camp, sometimes I don't.. this time I DO. There are a few things about Glee's first half of the season that annoyed me a little, but overall I laughed a lot, and teared up a few times. GREAT SHOW.

I also ADORE The Good Wife. Give it a shot, and you'll probably be hooked. It was surprisingly good, I half expected it to be dull, but the acting and the story are great. Julianna Margulies is perfect as the wife of a disgraced (and jailed) cheating district attorney. I like courtroom dramas, and this one has a nice balance between courtroom and personal life, with some intrigue and other interesting characters.

I love Glee. I also bought the two CD's.

Great fucking show!

Glee isn't a TV show, it's what teenie fangirls yell when they see sparkling vampires on screen.

NO, no, no.. that is SQUEEEEEEE!

I missed a couple of eps, but last week's was the one where the gay kid tells his dad that he's gay. The football team doing Beyoncé's dance was hilarious, but I had to watch it through my fingers. :)

If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it.. OH OH OH, lol. I loved that episode.

Hilarious episode. And I of course got teary at that last scene between father & son.

Sigh. Fucking great show.
