Halloween Horror Movies/TV Shows 2022

The season of the witch is upon us again and I've kicked off my watch-a-thon with a little more than a month to go.
First up:

American Horror Stories
I've been watching this series weekly and it's mostly been crap, but the last couple of episodes were actually pretty good. I thought the first season really good all around so I don't know what happened.

The Belko Experiment
This is like a Squid Game type of situation, but it's a global social experiment with no prize money. Workers are locked up in an office building and are forced to murder each other for science. It has some familiar faces, Dr. Cox/One of the two Bobs, Michael Rooker, Polka Dot Man, and Sean Gunn. This was written by James Gunn so that explains some of the cast and head explosions as well as the music and jokes. I thought there was going to be two final girls, but we got a final guy instead. I think it was worth a watch.
7.5/10

Some movies from my own Halloween collection:
- The Nightmare Before Christmas
- Army of Darkness
- Sleepy Hollow
- Ghostbusters (1984)
- Coraline
- Corpse Bride
- Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust

Just need to get my hands on a few more titles - Event Horizon, Van Helsing, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show (already seen these movies, just need to get copies of them) - and it should be complete.

Let Me In
A 12 year old boy befriends a 12 year old (more or less) neighbor girl. He doesn't quite put two and two together that she can only come out at night, but I quickly did. This is directed by Matt Reeves who recently directed The Batman. There's a scene in this movie that is similar to the car chase in The Batman. I really loved this movie because not only is it a solid horror movie, but it's a nice love story and a coming of age story. Now one issue will eventually come up is the boy will age and she will not. I don't know how you'd deal with that. I thought this was well acted, well directed and well written. I haven't seen a decent take on vampires since last year's Midnight Mass. Last season's AHS did an okay job, but ended it sloppily.
It's tough not to give this a 10/10, I can't think of any major flaw other than maybe she didn't need to kill the bullies.

Ouija: Origin of Evil
A little girl gets possessed by a ghost that's basically out for revenge. The ghost's motivations make no sense because the girl and her family had nothing to do with what happened to this person when they were alive. This was written and directed By Mike Flanagan who usually does really good work, but this one sucked.

I don't have a "Halloween" collection and I generally don't like horror/gore but I do like:

Poltergeist (1982)
House on Haunted Hill (1959) with Vincent Price
...

I can't think of others that aren't obvious, like the usual Hitchcock films, and the original monster films (Frankenstein & Bride of, Dracula, etc.)...

50 States of Fright
Remember when American Horror Story was good? That's what this is, but the stories are short, no longer than twenty minutes. It was produced by Sam Raimi on Quibi so unfortunately there's only one season. Lots off recognizable actors, Karen Allen, Taissa Farmiga (AHS Fame), Christina Ricci, Emily Hampshire ( Jenifer Goines 12 Monkeys), Ming-Na Wen ( Fannec Shand), Travis Fimmel (Raised By Wolves), Ron Livingston (Office Space), Elizabeth Reaser (The Haunting of Hill House), and Jacob Batalon (Spider-Man MCU) are among the people I recognized.
These stories are short and to the point, the writers of AHS, Many Cotto I'm looking at you, could learn a thing or two. They're not real gory or scary, mostly PG-13, but I thought they were good.
