Here's a thread about Doctor Who Series 8 for TK if you like

I also liked it, I didn't realise the brig cyberman had fired at Missy though first time round, I just thought the Master had set her control unit to beam her away if anyone tried to use it against her.

I have no doubt she did get away though.

The dead boy wasn't a digital copy, Danny sent him from the actual afterlife, as the Masters bracelet had the power to do that, somehow, so I guess if Missy did have a spare one of those, she could have come back even if the brig did kill her.

So if they got complaints last week about the dont cremate me line, I imagine the phones will be ringing off the hook now they just dug up everyone that has ever been buried, and destroyed all the bodies to boot.

Liked the Galifrey part, and Doc and Clara both lying to each other to make the other one feel better.

As for Clara not being in the trailer, that means nothing as she wasn't in the trailer for the orient express episode either.

I didn't think it was that (because Danny said the place they were in was collapsing so I thought it was the nethersphere) but if it was then that opens up a whole new set of questions really!

How come Missy didn't try to stop the Doctor dying when he was falling from the plane but her plan all along was to give him an army so surely she'd want him alive for that.

And why wasn't Danny properly Cyber-converted anyway?

And why did they actually have to uplaod the human consciousness back into the Cybermen anyway?

And...I'm not saying these things ruin the episode but they're all things and I don't think it's unreasonable to mention them!
 
This finale was a bit of a let down, IMO. Maybe I'll catch things on re-watches that will shore it up. The cybermen also seem to be the most physically inconsistent villains in Doctor Who, btw. Missy went full-on silly/batty. Simms played that Joker-style sociopath, the Missy version just seemed almost-harmlessly loony. (I say 'almost' because she did off inhaler-girl, of course.)

The Mary Poppins allusion in the finale (of the finale) was chuckle-worthy, though.
 
Also, if Danny Pink is dead, then one of three things has happened:

Thing 1: Orson Pink, "humanity's first time traveler" has been erased. Wouldn't something that important be a "fixed point"?

Thing 2A: Danny Pink is coming back, OR:

Thing 2B: Clara Oswald is already pregnant.
 
I thought the Mary Poppins reference with the dress and floating down with the umbrella was on purpose to let everyone know it's silly on purpose so if anyone doesn't like the finale they can say, "I meant to do that." all smug like.

Funny how the Cybermen are so similar to Ironman.

Danny saved the boy because it references him back to the trees thing where he will always do right by the kids and Clara finds that very attractive. I think he'll be back somehow.

I agree with CaptainWacky that a lot of things didn't make sense.

AND I know what's missing from the Capaldi line of stories! The Doctor's Song. They always play the Doctor's Song when he's on the path to victory in whatever he's battling.

Interesting thoughts on Clara.

Also I thought it was Donna's grandfather who killed Missy and not the Brigadier from UNIT - or am I being dense and that's what her grandfather was called? What made me think that is the salute before he blasted off. He did the same thing when he took all that radiation to save the world during David Tennant's reign as The Doctor. Grandpa and The Doctor did bond with a special relationship and had respect for each other. Seems natural to me that the old man would "have the Doctor's back" should he be reincarnated or sees him in another time/universe/whatever.

I think Danny wasn't a full cyberman because he hadn't erased himself yet, OR SOMETHING?

Anyway, I liked it. Doctor Who almost always has weird plot things, so I just roll with it.
 
Giving Cybermen the ability to decide if they want to be Cybermen or if they want to stay human and foil the evil plan seems like a pretty big mistake to include in your evil plan.

I thought the reason we all liked Moffat episodes back in the day was because his plots actually made sense while RTD went for the flashy "oh it doesn't hold up to scrutiny at all BUT THE FEELS" stuff. Like I still enjoyed the episode but I feel Moffat's capable of a lot better and I don't think Doctor Who should be held to lower standards of writing than other shows.

Because she's nuts. If The Doctor falls out of a plane she watches because she wants to know what he would do.

Consciousnesses were uploaded to the Nethersphere when people died. They were then told stories about how they could still feel anything their corpses felt, and that a great way to remove all that pain would be to get rid of their emotions. For some people who weren't convinced by that they also had other ways of making them want to stop feeling things, like they did with Danny.

Once their emotions were removed they then had suitable consciousnesses to go back into the cyber-converted bodies when the time was right.

Danny never did erase his emotions, so he was able to remain in control of his Cyber-body. Preumably some other people were also able to resit in a similar way, like The Brigadier who was able to resist because he's the fucking Brigadier.
 
Okay, but I don't think it all came across well on screen and I still see no reason why Missy would give people the choice in the first place instead of just editing their brains by force or uploading cyberman brains into their bodies. Or why they would upload people who hadn't deleted their emotions back into their bodies.

And what was the point of making the Doctor president of Earth then never mentioning it again in the episode. (I don't need an answer for this one.)
 
Probably a call back to when he was made president of Galifrey back in the old series.

The bigger question would be, why would UNIT send the most important person on earth up in a plane when the menace they are fighting can fly?
 
Also the tardis falling, then rising back above the clouds?

I guess someone liked star trek into darkness.
 
On a plane where Osgood has to work in the same room as the most dangerous woman in the universe is being held in just one pair of handcufss with two blind guards and the TARDIS in the corner (I think UNIT are just a bit shit.)

The plane stuff reminded me of Iron Man 3. Being a cyberman looks kind of fun.
 
OH and Osgood will show up alive and the Doctor will say "hang on didn't you die" and she'll say "that was the Zygon me on a cultural exchange" and then everyone on the internet will decide they hate her character anyway.
 
I think there's some Doctor Who thing on Children in Need tonight, but I'm not watching that shit so someone post the youtube here okay thanks bye.
