Hmmm.. is this some kind of trend? Peter's power was the ability to absorb other people's powers, and it kinda looks like his dad's power is the same only stronger, cause he can suck the life out of people. Matt has a similar power to his dad, but his dad is just better at it. I can't remember what their power is called though.
The last one I saw (with the vortex guy) was quite good: they actually did some decent character stuff with vortex guy and Claire (who I find cute again, SO FUCKING SUE ME.) And lots of other shit happened and the plot actually seems to be fitting together and looking fairly intriguing...
My main problems is still the lack of actually HEROES to get behind. All the character turn evil or good at the drop of a hat (though I'm assumi9ng Hiro was a fake-out) and what's worse is they can just say "oh, my powers made me do it!" Sylar wasn't REALLY evil, he just had "the hunger"! Pete has "the hunger" so he's evil! Mohinder's powers make him a "monster"! There's no moral choices being made, it's still plot dictating the characters.
That episode also had good Sylar scenes. There were some more good scenes with Claire and her mothers this week, but other than that it wasn't any more thoughtful or intelligent than usual.
It does seem as though the actual type of powers are transferred down the generations, since Sylar also has a power similar to Arthur's. Although we don't know if Arthur is Sylar's dad.
Then he wouldn't go back in time to stop himself doing so, because it would be against the "rules" or something. Except he's went back in time several times in following episodes.
