I thought he was trying to destroy it, but it's hard to tell.
The eclipse didn't start most of the current Heroes powers, but you may remember that Adam (as Kensei) only gained his healing power after the eclipse in feudal Japan, so it's not unprecedented for the eclipse to be significant. I wonder if the eclipse in the pilot episode started up the powers of Micah's cousin and those annoying twins? Maybe there were yet more eclipses that started each other generation of Heroes powers?
In next week's episode the eclipse makes them all lose their powers, weirdly.
