Horror Movies

Collector_sheet_A.jpg
CreepycreepycreepycreepyCREEPY film. I had forgotten that Wyler directed it.

Anyone who wants to know how Terence Stamp became a top go-to guy for psychotic roles (General Zod? The Limey, anyone?), this is the flick to see.

Speaking of Audition...here's a frame from that little half hour that gent did for Masters Of Horror. That was fun too.

I tried watching Clive Barker's The Plague last night, but I can't take any movie seriously that has Dawson in it.

^I wouldn't know, because I didn't stick with it.

There were a whole slew of horror DVDs at Wal-Mart today, but they were behind those fucking locked cases, and since I have the flu, I really didn't want to track down a worker and have them stand there with me for the next 30 minutes while I perused their selection.

Fucking cocksuckers.

On the plus side, got Iron Man for only thirteen bucks. Little gift to myself since I'm ill.

Since posting this thread, I've watched two horror movies worth note.

House of 1000 Corpses and Automaton Transfusion.

Both were OK.

Ho1000C was definitely interesting. Rob Zombie's first stab at movie-making wasn't so horrible. I can say that I was definitely not stoned enough to watch that. The psychotic cut-ins were not only colorful, but almost comedic. I'd give this one 7 out of 10.

Automaton Transfusion....
What can I say? Typical zombie movie. Pretty much everything we've seen before. Yet, not. The death scenes were ALL something we haven't seen before. I mean, how often in a zombie movie do you see a zombie rip a fetus from it's mother's stomach and hear her screaming "MY BABY MY BABY!"? Although the plot, acting, direction, and most of the writing was more transparent than a philly cheesesteak bag I have to say the movie's only saving grace was the way in which it killed people. Movie 3 out of 10. Death scenes were 10 out of 10.

Rob Zombie has great ideas, but sometimes the execution doesn't work. Like his version of Halloween. If anyone could have done that well, it would have been him, but there was just something missing in the movie.

The Devil's Rejects is much better than HO1000C, in my humble opinion.

I got to see the Black Cat, which I hadn't seen in ages. Nothing like a woman who turns into a large cat when she's sexually aroused. Those old black and white movies can be quite surprising sometimes.

For a nice suspenseful thriller, might I suggest The Uninvited, starring Ray Miland. It's subtle and got some nice spooks in it, as well as it keeps you guessing up until the end. :)

i recently saw 'The Black Cat' 1934 film, i liked it a lot :)
there was also 1941 film, i have not seen that i think

Speaking of Rob Zombie, when I have hours at work to spare I usually listen to music and it was the Rob Zombie video for Lords of Salem, where there's a tribute to a movie where in the very beginning of the film, a witch has a mask nailed to her face. I can't remember it, though.

I've also seen 30 Days of Night and The Ruins.

30 Days of Night wasn't as bad as I suspected. Plus, looking at Ben Foster is always nice. Great gore and blood, too.

I quite enjoyed The Ruins. I watched this with a friend, and he and I were totally into it. Good suspense, even if it had a typical ending.

There's one another one I caught late night on IFC, involving a man who likes to feed his motel guests to his crocodile. Has Robert Englund in it when he was about 20, and also a line stolen by Quentin Tarantino for Kill Bill.

"My name's Buck, and I like to fuck."

Sorry I'm rambling. Totally stoned and jacked up on a peppermint mocha.

Speaking of Tarantino. Anyone else see his Grindhouse double feature? Planet Terror was fantastic. The opening sequence of Rose McGowan doing a gogo dance to Rodriguez' blazing guitar riffs made me so hard I could cut glass. The thing that really made my dick want to explode was when Rose finally gets her m203 pegleg and the music accompanied by massive amounts of win to the cacophony of explosions for the grand finale fight. HOLY SHIT!

Death Proof was a great movie, too. Classic Tarantino. Music, movies, cars, and violence. His little homage to Vanishing Point was spectacular. Nothing beats a suped 1970 Dodge Challenger with a hot woman strapped to the hood. If she wasn't having an orgasm from the vibrations, I'd be very disappointed.

On a final note about Grindhouse, what makes it all the more special is that Tarantino threw in a spoof B-trailer in between the movies for Machete. If they made that into a movie, I'd fucking watch it. According to imdb it's been announced, but we'll see...

Here, have some amazing pictures.
