How can ANYONE believe in an afterlife?

Well, it does explain people like Glen Ford, for instance. He was a believer in former lives, and when put under Hypnosis remembered a previous life as a Frenchman in the 17th Century. Whilst not able to speak French, he spoke fluently under hypnosis, with a long-dead French dialect. He could recall minor local political events down to the finest detail.

No - it is something that will never be adequately explained with science, so we only have Faith. If you don't have that, it's not worth worrying about, is it?

Why do people always discover that they were either French, or Cleopatra?

P.S. Thanks for reminding me to watch Afterlife tonight

In the last house before the one my mum lives in now she used to see a face come out of the wall most nights, it would stay there so long one night she decided to draw it.

The next day she took it to the next door neighbour, and they said "where did you get that? Thats the guy who used to live there before you, but he died long before you moved in"

My brother also saw it, and years later my dad admited he used to see it too, but didnt want to say at the time.

We are nothing but the sum of our memories and our meories are chemically stored in our BRAINS which die when we die DO YOU SEE.

They did, but they only bought films for holidays, and remember it was a crap 1960s camera that could only really take decent images outdoors.

The neighbour could have been lying too.

He could have been, they eventually moved when a sewage pipe mysteriously burst underground filling the celler of that house only full of shit, which was the last straw for my mum.

No-one ever moved into that house again, and eventually they just bulldozed the entire street and made it into a field.

This is debatable and an interesting question. Are we only the sum of our memories? If you were born in another country, witnessed a brutal murder or were subjected to any number of different stimuli it's fair to say that you would be very different in a number of areas. But would the fundemental person you are be able to be altered completley by only external experiences?

Because memories are things that happen to us. It's all external. I believe that personality is not only derived from experience. There is genetic markers that shape the person you are or will be, no matter what experiences you live through.

And is there a way that any form of identity can be stored or keep some form of cohesion after death? We know energy cannot be subtracted or added to so at the very least our bio-electricty will not magically dissapear when we die. Whether it has any ability to hold some form of cohesive sentience is something that is only wild conjecture and it becomes the soul argument which is more spiritual than scientific. The scientific questions fail us when discussing such things. What I do know is that the universe is a very wierd place and that I have no idea how much value is placed on humanity and life in general. Is there a cosmic signifigance to it? Since we can't and don't know the true nature of the universe there is no way of knowing the priorites of after death preservation.

Oh shit..this is the MF..

OMGWTFLaksdfl;ksd;f LOL! WHO INVENTED The skip!

Personally, I have no doubt that this plane of existance is just one of many and we are bound for something else when we leave this mortal coil. But I would like to see some scientific evidence that would support that idea, just as a lark.

All I care about is that I can watch my favorite shows over and over agan, play all the video games I want, and be around dogs without sneezing.

I think if you truly believe in it, then there is another plane of existance. If you have no faith, that that's what you'll get. Nothing.

I believe I've talked about my great-Nan before, and why I believe in this sort of thing, so I won't keep on.
