The Question: All I’ve said is that the theory can’t be disproved. Where have I said that it’s fact? If you are claiming that the theory is false, then the burden of proof is on your end, not mine.

But to be a theory, it is required to be verifiable or falsifiable.

Where have I said that it’s fact? If you are claiming that the theory is false, then the burden of proof is on your end, not mine.

Nope, absolutely, horribly, catastrophically wrong. If I say that gravity works because of trillions of tiny little dwarves pushing everything toward the ground, I'd be the one who has to show evidence of this. If you say we're all living in a computer simulation, you're the one who has to show evidence that this is the case.

Ok, let me ask you again, Where in this thread have I said that we actualy
are living inside a computer?

Backpedaling is unbecoming. If you're going to be wrong, at least be wrong with conviction.

No, a theory can also be an opinion or a speculation.

Theory, n., A set of statements or principles devised to explain a group of facts or phenomena, especially one that has been repeatedly tested or is widely accepted and can be used to make predictions about natural phenomena.

So what are the facts or phenomena explained by the idea that we all exist in a computer-generated simulacrum? And if this "theory" can be neither verified nor falsified through testing and observation, of what relevance or value is it?

And to say that a theory can be an opinion ignores this simple fact of linguistics: Words have meaning. Different words, different meanings.

Why are you assuming that the theory will never be verified?

And Here's another definition of the word. (Please link the place where you got yours BTW)

The word theory has a number of distinct meanings in different fields of knowledge, depending on their methodologies and the context of discussion.

In common usage, people often use the word theory to signify a conjecture, an opinion, or a speculation. In this usage, a theory is not necessarily based on facts; in other words, it is not required to be consistent with true descriptions of reality.

As I said, the word can also mean a speculation or an opinion. and is required to be consistent with true descriptions of reality. which in the context of this thread is as good a definition as any.

LOL, no you're the one who is backpedaling. when you answer the question that I've asked you twice, then we can stop going round in circles.

until then why don't you just except that I can't prove that we are living inside a simulation. And you can't disprove it.

The only difference between me and you is that all along I've not committed my self to either point of view, but you have by claiming that the theory is false.

Those are the facts, so as the saying goes "just live with it"

Bump, to cover my ass on the typo i made In post 56. i said:

"As I said, the word can also mean a speculation or an opinion. and is required to be consistent with true descriptions of reality..."

when i meant to say:

"As I said, the word can also mean a speculation or an opinion. and is not required to be consistent with true descriptions of reality..."

I doubt anyone really gives a fuck about any of this any more. so sorry folks LOL
