I just got The Paradise War by Stephen Lawhead, and The Sparrow by Maria Doria Russell... I r happy.

I just got The Paradise War by Stephen Lawhead, and The Sparrow by Maria Doria Russell... I r happy.

I've never read Russell, but I enjoy reading Lawhead.

The Sparrow got excellent reviews. One of my Dune nerd friends says it rates right up there with Dune.. which is the best compliment I can think of for any book.

I read the first Dune book. I did like it, but I never read the ones that came afterward.

Try George R.R. Martin sometime, if you haven't read him. (Song of Ice and Fire is the name of the series)

Michael A. Stackpole is another good author. (DragonCrown War series)

Check out Jim Butcher's "Furies of Calderon" series too. It's kinda Roman-Fantasy. Different, but cool. (I'm a book-club nerd too.)

Paradise War is turning out to be a really great book so far. Mr Gillies just went to the Otherworld. GOOD STUFF, IMO!!!
