I am never going to vote again

What in the world is the deal with Glen Beck, and the Lincoln Memorial "Restoring Honor" Rally, and Sarah Palin, and Nazi's and stuff?

Do Glen Beck and Sarah Palin really just want to kill the Republican Party comopetely? I mean, I can't vote for the Democrats and I can't vote for he Republicans. And the Liberals just aren't ready to lead. I'm never going to vote again. They've all lost their freaking minds.

I don't even follow politicians anymore. Give them enough money and they will say and do anything!

You're a Republican?

That's kind of sexy in that "opposites attract" way :D

I'm actually a true centrist. I lean more to the right because I'm not pro-abortion. However, I have liberal tendencies regarding public programs and am an actual activist and volunteer and not just someone sitting around spouting what others should do and how they should give up their hard earned money to make me feel good about the PC crap I spew forth from my mouth to make me feel good about myself. I would like to see guns removed from the face of the planet. I don't generally support wars but I know that them that will war will find someone to war with and they aren't going to call me and ask me what I think about it. I don't like that the rest of the country has decided it is okay for Mexico to overrun Texas and I'd better just suck it up and learn to read and speak Mexican because it would be racist and bigotry for me to expect them to learn to read and speak English. It doesn't matter that my home is here, too bad, so sad for me.

And, yes, dear heart, sometimes I'm downright sexy and sometimes I'm just good looking.

And, sometimes, I hide in my room and no one gets to see me.

I am and always have been an independent.

Not much choice, really.
We're supposed to be electing representatives who share our own ideals and opinions, no?

At this point I'd settle for an atheist, any atheist, unless his or her positions on the challenges of our time were completely insane.

I vote in national elections but whenever possible I avoid the major parties as if they had plague. In 2008 I voted for Nader.

What we have now is govt. for special interests, by special interests.
The people can go fuck themselves, apparently.

Interesting thought: now that the black color barrier is broken, and probably the female ceiling within the next twenty years or so, how long is it before we get a candidate who actually doesn't wrap himself in the Bible? Hell, JFK took shit just for being Catholic. Obama's ties to that reverend Wright didn't help him at all, and Clinto just got into more trouble for carrying on while supposedly being a religious guy.

So what's the over/under on an atheist candidate? I'm thinking not in our lifetime. Too many people here still love the church stuff.

You know that pro-choice isn't the same as pro-abortion, right?

I know how my opinion on this subject is viewed by members of this board. No one should worry how I feel about the subject though. I'm not advocating changing the laws on abortion because I remember what happened before Roe v. Wade.

The issue wasn't about Clinton's religion or even that he was unfaithful to his wife. The issue with Clinton was that he was a liar. When they asked him about his extra-marital affairs, he should have told them it was none of their business. There were other issues as well, like misuse of office and not just the Presidential office space but the power of the job.

I'm cool with your opinions on abortion, eloisel. My mom feels the same way. I'm glad you don't want abortion made illegal.

I don't want the Republican party to die, I want Republicans (and Democrats) to demand better representation. I honestly believe our country is better off when opposing views are represented, but I don't think either party is doing a good job. They both pander to the extremes, they're both riddled with corruption, they both take advantage of how the system works, and we're all too dumb to figure out how to stop them.

I'd be surprised... no, make that amazed... if I got to see an atheist in a high national office.

'Twould be nice though.

Full agreement here.

Although I didn't have as many complaints about him as I do/did some of our other recent office-holders, the fact that he didn't have the balls to refuse to validate the sex questions with an answer other than "get bent" was something that permanently damaged my estimation of him.

That said, it didn't bother me nearly as much that he lied to people asking a question that was none of their business in the first place. They didn't deserve an honest answer any more than a dishonest one.
