I bought a metal-detector!

curiousa2z

Be patient till the last.
have wanted one for years. then met the husband of a pal of mine while on vacation and he has written books on the stuff, travels all over the world to find jewellry and has found amazingly valuable jewellry. He recommended a good value detector for beginners. It has a computer screen that tells what's in the ground and how far down. so far I have found iron and foil in my backyard while practising. LOL!

hopefully I will have some pics of finds to post this month.

FIND SOME DUBLOONS.

Find some metal feet.

What kind did you go with. I love metal detecting as a hobby and have found fun stuff in my travels. Right now I'm obsessed with the idea of finding a hidden treasure someplace and getting rich...

Find some robots.

finding hidden treasure is a worthy goal.

he recommended the Garrett Ace 250. i was at an old farm house foundation today and the coin mode went nuts and sais there were coins 6-8 inches deep, but when I removed the first two inches of moss and soil, discoverd a 2-3 inch flooring of solid clay (at least that's what it looks like)...crap!

Don't give up! Many of those old foundations have caches hidden in them because nobody trusted banks, and many people hid their stuff under false floors disguised with all kinds of things like loose debris to clay layers to ashes etc. If you get rich come tell us about it...

Was the detector a reasonable price? I know that metal detectorists (that sounds like a word, right?) can be the scourge of archaeologists, but I'd like to have a go just for the excitement of finding something novel and forgotten. If I found anything of historical value I'd report it to the relevant authorities... and hope they offered me some dosh.

If I found something important I'd film myself destroying it and send the video to Tony Robinson.

And he'd watch it with that bloke with the moldy hat.

"OOH ARR WHAT WE GOT 'ERE, EH? CROOOOIKEY, ITSA PIECE-A PATTARY! WELL OI NAVUR!"

That's Josie's dad.

Maybe you'll find a hoard of Anglo-Saxon gold!
