I want to smell dark matter
The world was young, the mountains green,
No stain yet on the Moon was seen,
No words were laid on stream or stone
When Durin woke and walked alone.
He named the nameless hills and dells;
He drank from yet untasted wells;
He stooped and looked in Mirrormere,
And saw a crown of stars appear,
As gems upon a silver thread,
Above the shadow of his head.

The world was fair, the mountains tall,
In Elder Days before the fall
Of mighty kings in Nargothrond
And Gondolin, who now beyond
The Western Seas have passed away:
The world was fair in Durin's Day.

A king he was on carven throne
In many-pillared halls of stone
With golden roof and silver floor,
And runes of power upon the door.
The light of sun and star and moon
In shining lamps of crystal hewn
Undimmed by cloud or shade of night
There shone for ever fair and bright.

There hammer on the anvil smote,
There chisel clove, and graver wrote;
There forged was blade, and bound was hilt;
The delver mined, the mason built.
There beryl, pearl, and opal pale,
And metal wrought like fishes' mail,
Buckler and corslet, axe and sword,
And shining spears were laid in hoard.
Unwearied then were Durin's folk;
Beneath the mountains music woke:
The harpers harped, the minstrels sang,
And at the gates the trumpets rang.

The world is grey, the mountains old,
The forge's fire is ashen-cold;
No harp is wrung, no hammer falls;
The darkness dwells in Durin's halls;

The shadow lies upon his tomb
In Moria, in Khazad-dum.
But still the sunken stars appear
In dark and windless Mirrormere;
There lies his crown in water deep,
Till Durin wakes again from sleep.

Gil-galad was an elven-king.
Of him the harpers sadly sing:
The last whose realm was fair and free
Between the mountains and the sea.

His sword was long, his lance was keen,
His shining helm afar was seen;
The countless stars of heaven's field
Were mirrored in his silver shield.

But long ago he rode away,
And where he dwelleth none can say;
For into darkness fell his star
In Mordor where the shadows are.

I want to smell dark matter
There is an inn, a merry old inn
beneath an old grey hill,
And there they brew a beer so brown
That the Man in the Moon himself came down
one night to drink his fill.

The ostler has a tipsy cat
that plays a five-stringed fiddle;
And up and down he runs his bow,
Now squeaking high, now purring low,
now sawing in the middle.

The landlord keeps a little dog
that is mighty fond of jokes;
When there's good cheer among the guests,
He cocks an ear at all the jests
and laughs until he chokes.

They also keep a hornéd cow
as proud as any queen;
But music turns her head like ale,
And makes her wave her tufted tail
and dance upon the green.

And O! the rows of silver dishes
and the store of silver spoons!
For Sunday there's a special pair,
And these they polish up with care
on Saturday afternoons.

The Man in the Moon was drinking deep,
and the cat began to wail;
A dish and a spoon on the table danced,
The cow in the garden madly pranced,
and the little dog chased his tail.

The Man in the Moon took another mug,
and rolled beneath his chair;
And there he dozed and dreamed of ale,
Till in the sky the stars were pale,
and dawn was in the air.

Then the ostler said to his tipsy cat:
"The white horses of the Moon,
They neigh and champ their silver bits;
But their master's been and drowned his wits,
and the Sun'll be rising soon!"

So the cat on his fiddle played hey-diddle-diddle,
a jig that would wake the dead:
He squeaked and sawed and quickened the tune,
While the landlord shook the Man in the Moon:
"It's after three!" he said.

They rolled the Man slowly up the hill
and bundled him into the Moon,
While his horses galloped up in rear,
And the cow came capering like a deer,
and a dish ran up with the spoon.

Now quicker the fiddle went deedle-dum-diddle;
the dog began to roar,
The cow and the horses stood on their heads;
The guests all bounded from their beds
and danced upon the floor.

With a ping and a pang the fiddle-strings broke!
the cow jumped over the Moon,
And the little dog laughed to see such fun,
And the Saturday dish went off at a run
with the silver Sunday spoon.

The round Moon rolled behind the hill,
as the Sun raised up her head.
She hardly believed her fiery eyes;
For though it was day, to her suprise
they all went back to bed.

In Dwimordene, in Lorien
Seldom have walked the feet of men,
Few mortal eyes have seen the light
That lies there ever, long and bright.
Galadriel! Galadriel!
Clear is the water of your well;
White is the stars in your white hand;
Unmarred, unstained is leaf and land
In Dwimordene, in Lorien
More fair than thoughts of Mortal Men

I will always be your friend. I find posting on a regular basis difficult since my life is in permanent upheaval and posting thirteen words every once in a while on Facebook is less demanding. I find it hard to find time to get in to the ZONE and then I get used to not posting and can't start and then I have to do things that are required of fucking normal existence a billion times a day which I resent because I don't want to do anything at all but post aimlessly and wait to download new games, comics and TV shows illegally and play, read and watch them endlessly until the weekend where I go out and get drunk and then feel like shit on Saturday morning then Tweet about Arsenal fucking it all up again and I can barely stay awake but then I remember that I don't post on TK anymore and things are different and I have to pay bills now and then go to the CO-OP and I just got over charged for a two-for-one item because I didn't get one with the label on it and I feel cheated yet there is CLEARLY no way I am going back to confront the check-out-person because that is way too much pressure on top of every thing else. I sit in the evening watching TV before I HAVE to go to sleep because I am no longer able to exist only at night like I want and I think of 20 subjects I could start a thread on in the Mine Field and that I really should help out actually running the place beyond paying for the place like a silent benefactor and go delete some bots or stop someone posting Jacks' social security number on-line but I put it off and then Scent of a Woman comes on TV. I love this movie. Al Pacino is great and I walk around the kitchen shouting "HOO HA!" in my best Pacino impression and I think about Moomins and Leonard Nimoy's bicycle and I think again that I should go on TK and start posting but I am now set in my ways and I tell myself that posting from my phone is far too much effort so I post something borderline homosexual about Robin Van Persie on Twitter like "I WANT TO MARRY VAN PERSIE BECAUSE HE'S SO GOOD AT KICKING BALLS" and it all feels ever more pointless than ever and I really want to post but it's TOO FUCKING LATE and I already have commitments and procrastinating is my super power. I then see that fucking awful Vodafone advert with Yoda in it and I'm pretty sure that's not Frank Oz's voice and I wonder if I can really defend George Lucas this time for whoring out such an iconic character for a fucking phone advert and I raise my eyes and the words of my contempt start to come to my lips but I realize nobody here would care but I know the Mine Field would. I know Wacky would care. But I am now set in my ways and my laptop isn't here yet and it would be difficult to start posting regularly again just like that and Tomtrek would call me a BITCH WHORE and I would feel bad and every one would say HA HA HA WELCOME BACK MENTY SEE YOU IN FIFTY YEARS and I would then fade away again and go to the CO-OP again and TK would seem like something I need to compartmentalize and divvy time for and I already do that with everything else and I can barely take it and I would RESENT the effort and I will read the forums and then not post because it's ALL TOO MUCH but I've let every one down and I am being lazy and not being part of a community I love and I think about it and it SUCKS and nothing changes and then I promise myself that I will start posting again because I ENJOY posting and it's something I want to do and I have only spoken to three people anyway this month in Thurso and I'm not really that busy but I convince myself that I am and the days cascade at increasing speed before me and days turn in to months turn in to years and this time will be different you billowing praline parachute pantmolenuexdreyfuxconnectedrigglesDjf';ajladfjaslkf.

There is that. This time I'm back for REAL though.

I hope.

Well, I feel bad now.

I kind of gave up defending Lucas after he had Darth Vader say "NOOOO!" on the Blu Ray (not that I have a Blu Ray player!) and when I got drunk on Christmas day I started ranting about that to my brother in law and his daughter and I don't remember if they were confused or not, probably not, but still I have to learn to never speak again.

QUESTIONS.

1) Do you still read The Unwritten?
2) Do you still read The Walking Dead?
3) Did you read anymore of Song Of Ice and Fire after the first book (A Game Of Thrones)?
4) Do you like Imogen Poots?
5) Have you watched anymore Clone Wars yet, it's really good (THANKS TO LUCAS PROBABLY, SO I FORGIVE HIM ALREADY)?
6) I don't really find Jennifer Anniston hot, sorry.
7) Why isn't DAVID SCHWIMMER a bigger star yet?
8) *reference to that boy biting his mum's shoulder at Ground Zero 97*
9) Or was it Bad Blood?
10) No, pretty sure it was Ground Zero.
11) Can I keep posting LOTR songs here? I really fucking love them.

Eggs Mayonnaise

All In With The Nuts
Here's what you should have done -- you should have typed all that out in a text document, and then pasted a couple of sentences from it in different posts in different parts of the board for the next few days, and then you could still put forth the image that you're back everyday, and still give yourself the time to ease back into the transition to BEING THE FULL TIME TK OWNER AND MF ADDICT THAT YOU ARE ME DROOGIE.

Now you're just going to have to switch cold turkey. THERE'S NO METHODONE FOR THE MINE FIELD OR SOMETHING LOL I'M FATdsfsjkd.hasd.

;) welcome back please save me from going even more insane here

1) Do you still read The Unwritten?

I read quite a few before my HDD died and I lost the will to download things anymore since I was always thinking about leaving and not having my computer and the subsequent and prolonged panic attacks kicked in.

2) Do you still read The Walking Dead?

I'm three or four issues behind due to the afore mentioned CRISIS.

3) Did you read anymore of Song Of Ice and Fire after the first book (A Game Of Thrones)?

Finished the first book. Read half of the second. Got distracted by other reading and still intending to go back and finish the series. GOOD BOOKS.

4) Do you like Imogen Poots?

Yes! She has a nice profile.

5) Have you watched anymore Clone Wars yet, it's really good (THANKS TO LUCAS PROBABLY, SO I FORGIVE HIM ALREADY)?

Haven't even finished season 3! I haven't watched anything for months but I need to do a bit of a back-to-back episode watch for Clone Wars. I feel ashamed.

6) I don't really find Jennifer Anniston hot, sorry.

She was hot in Horrible Bosses. I would tickle her toes.

7) Why isn't DAVID SCHWIMMER a bigger star yet?

He really should be. Doesn't he direct quite a lot? He's not as lazy as Matt LeBlanc. Nobody is.

8) *reference to that boy biting his mum's shoulder at Ground Zero 97*

THE CHEWIT MONSTER.

9) Or was it Bad Blood?

Nope.
10) No, pretty sure it was Ground Zero.

Deffo me old bumble bee knee pads.

11) Can I keep posting LOTR songs here? I really fucking love them.

Always. It's almost time for read through nine or ten.

I want to smell dark matter
Ah! like gold fall the leaves in the wind,
long years numberless as the wings of trees!
The long years have passed like swift draughts
of the sweet mead in lofty halls
beyond the West, beneath the blue vaults of Varda
wherein the stars tremble
in the song of her voice, holy and queenly.
Who now shall refill the cup for me?
For now the Kindler, Varda, the Queen of the stars,
from Mount Everwhite has uplifted her hands like clouds
and all paths are drowned deep in shadow;
and out of a grey country darkness lies
on the foaming waves between us,
and mist covers the jewels of Calacirya for ever.
Now lost, lost to those of the East is Valimar!
Farewell! Maybe thou shalt find Valimar!
Maybe even thou shalt find it! Farewell!

It's still good...sometimes he seems to stretch the stories out a bit (the whale one FOR EXAMPLE) but I've been buyin the TPBs and it reads really well in that format. And the last few issues have really picked up in an arse-kicking way. ALSO he's been doing .5 issues that give backstory to some of the characters.

I'm three or four issues behind due to the afore mentioned CRISIS.

It's kind of all over the place...I don't know how many times he's done the "Rick says something shocking" cliffhanger...probably too many. Still, it only takes five minutes to read an issue.

Finished the first book. Read half of the second. Got distracted by other reading and still intending to go back and finish the series. GOOD BOOKS.

The first three books are amazingly good...the fourth and fifth not so much. Season two starts April 1st.

Yes! She has a nice profile.

She was in V For Vendetta (for about 30 seconds) and I suspect Natalie gave her some "hotness advice" (that's what women do, right?)

Haven't even finished season 3! I haven't watched anything for months but I need to do a bit of a back-to-back episode watch for Clone Wars. I feel ashamed.

Darth Maul's coming back with robot legs (this is a joke, obviously.)

She was hot in Horrible Bosses. I would tickle her toes.

I watched that because I remembered you mentioning it. I posted a review.

He really should be. Doesn't he direct quite a lot? He's not as lazy as Matt LeBlanc. Nobody is.

He always seems to play total assholes.

Always. It's almost time for read through nine or ten.

I'm due another read of LOTR but I'm always reading about six different things at various speeds according to rules only I understand...and if I read LOTR that means I have to read The Hobbit first, then The Silmarillion. Also I've been reading The History Of Middle Earth books for about eight years now and really Christopher Tolkien should be more selective about what he puts in but it's still interesting!

Oh yeah, how about Russell Brand and Katy Perry? I WAS SHOCKED.

I want to smell dark matter
When evening in the Shire was grey
his footsteps on the Hill were heard;
before the dawn he went away,
on journey long without a word.

From Wilderland to Western shore,
from northern waste to southern hill,
trough dragon-lair and hidden door
and darkling woods he walked at will.

With Dwarf and Hobbit, Elves and Men,
with mortal and immortal folk,
with bird on bough and beast in den,
in their own secret tounge he spoke.

A deadly sword, a healing hand,
a back that bent beneath its load;
a trumpet-voice, a burning brand,
a weary pilgrim on the road.

A lord of wisdom throned he sat,
swift in anger, quick to laugh;
an old man in a battered hat
who learned upon a thorny staff.

He stood upon the bridge alone
and Fire and Shadow both defied;
his staff was broken on the stone,
in Khazad-d°m his wisdom died.

The finest rockets ever seen:
they burst in stars of blue and green,
or after thunder golden showers
came falling like a rain of flowers.

"Three rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie."

Day is ended; Dim my eyes

but journey long before me lies.

Farewell freinds, I hear the call,

the ship's beside the stony wall.

Foam is white, and waves are grey

beyond the sunset leads my way.

Foam is salt; the wind is free.

I hear the rising of the Sea.

Guided by the Lonely Star,

beyond the utmost harbour-bar,

Ill find the heavens fair and free,

and beaches of the Starlit Sea.

Ship, my ship! I seek the West,

and fields and mountains ever blest.

Farewell to Middle-earth at last.

I see the Star above my mast!
