I do not like the new format.

I am fond of saying that Firefox shits its pants more than a 2 year old, eating Ex-Lax-laced Taco Bell. But this seemed particularly egregious.

I never have any real problems with it unless dozens of tabs are open and it's been running awhile. uBlock Origin probably helps a lot with blocking scripts and ads and other nonsense but it can still be a RAM hog now and then. Luck of the draw I guess, Chrome is arguably worse now as far as that stuff goes.

Chrome is such a tremendous disappointment--like so much Google is doing these days. I switched back to Firefox when they changed it so that it showed all the filthy degenerate porn I watched every time I opened the browser. That it sucks up resources and you can't use an earlier version is just gravy. Speaking of which, I actually added a Mapquest app to my phone because the new Google Maps is such a steaming turd and they've mad that also impossible to revert to a non-shitty version.

And since I'm waxing nostalgic for when the Internet was fast...SPACE JAM! https://www.spacejam.com/archive/spacejam/movie/jam.htm

Not to be that guy, but Google has pretty much overstepped its boundaries in every way possible. I try to avoid it and its apps wherever possible, but they've become a monopoly of sorts in a lot of ways. If I wasn't too lazy to root my phone I'd get rid of all their shit entirely. Firefox mobile is a complete turd right now but I still use that over Chrome mobile on my phone, too. I long for the days of web pages without a crap ton of javascript laden tracking and ad serving bullcrap, but it's fairly easy to block that shit by default.

And for what it's worth, this site at least has none of that embedded as far as I can tell.

Yeah it sucks to have to restart my phone when Google Maps goes down every few days/weeks just to get it to work. I have Waze as my backup, but now that you mentioned Mapquest, I'm going to look into installing that app.

I've been pleasantly surprised by it. I do have some hiccups with it, but I suspect that's more a case of having a tiny, tiny phone with a kind of finnicky touch screen.

The other day, suffering through slow useless HotMail 2019, I Googled up pictures of the 1998 Hotmail interface. I thought it might be amusingly clunky and terrible, like Windows 95 or the SpaceJam Website, but it was actually very modern, practical, and usable. And, I'll bet, fast.
