I Feel Bitterness and Envy Toward New York

curiousa2z

Be patient till the last.
Opera fans, who are watching Puccini's La Boheme live.
I'm listening to it on CBC; part one has just finished.

Hearing it on radio is not the same. :(

The Met is amazing. It really puts Boston's dinky little opera house/stage-for-rent to shame.

My dad loved opera, I can appreciate some of the songs, but I couldn't sit through a full concert.

I said the same thing about Ballet, but found I actually enjoyed it. Then again I was pretty drunk, and was going back to three of the girls place that night.

I Feel Bitterness and Envy Toward New York

From now on I shall call you Chi-town in my head.

If I ever make it to NY I'd love to see some of the big shows, but probably not opera. I'd like to see one of the famous orchestras though.

I said the same thing about the Olympics.

Two things I really miss now that I'm living in Smallville: no ballet; no opera.

This is why I go mad when I visit the Big Cities...saw members of the Met perform La Boheme in Central Park one sultry June night 7 years ago, so I know what I'm missing.

Ironically, in all my years here, I've only gone to the Met once, and that was to see a ballet, not an opera. There was a world premiere of a new ballet of Othello back in the 90s, and a friend scored me free tickets.

I've seen concerts at the NY State Theater, and several Bway shows at the Vivian Beaumont (both in Lincoln Center).

The ballet? Going to see the bear drive around in the little car, huh?

I find the theater much more enjoyable if you have a pair of boobs to play with. :ramen:

Unfortunately, I can never go back to the theater.

Been to NYC twice but didn't go to the opera either of those times. We have quite a bit of that shit over here though so it's not too bad.
FBI - why is Boston shit compared to NYC? Not that I saw anything in Boston but you have me curious - shouldn't Boston as a fairly big city have decent entertainment too?
