Have you read The Silmarillion? Even if you haven't it's still worth getting I'd say, although you could really just make it yourself by sticking together the approrpriate passages from The Sil, Unfinished Tales and the History Of Middle Earth books (if you have them!) but it has nice illustrations too SO YEAH BABY, GROOVY.
