I know its been a few years but..

Yeah, I never got the whole Matrix obsession. Besides Keanu being the most wooden action figure ever, it just sucked.
 
The first movie is decent as a stand alone movie. It's premise was hailed as somehow being utterly unique and ingenius when it really wasn't. But it did have a good script and it was executed well. As for all the uber hype... meh.


The other two were abysmal.
 
The special effects were.. well, let's not say revolutionary, but they were certainly a step forward. Unfortunately, they made two crap sequels and all movies and even TV shows now have effects as good as the ones in the original film, so it just doesn't seem so special anymore.
 
I do like the first one as a stand-alone science fiction movie and it has rewatchability. I actually think Keanu was PERFECTLY cast too, just because the Neo character is supposed to be all overwhelmed all the time and that's how Keanu naturally looks!

The sequels were so shite. A few good fight scenes in the second and some nice effects, yes, but the story was just a mish-mash of ideas and the ending MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE OKAY.
 
The first one was fun, but the rest were just ok. I wouldn't go out of my way to watch any of them again though.
 
The sequals were like, oh wow hes going to get into a massive fight, oh no hes turned into a cartoon!
 
I actually got up and walked out of the cinema when the Zion mosh party began half-way through the second film.

Only time I have ever done that and this is from someone who even endured 'North' through to the end,
