I know the new Droid allows for WiFi tethering

But, with a little work, the iPhone 3g I have, is now tethered to my laptop, and I'm surfing wirelessly.

I wish they had made this available through the 4.0 software, but for some reason mac software development is about as in touch with the computer world as my grandmother.

GET IT TOGETHER, JOBS!

Yet, I recall many threads where you claimed Mac software was inherently SUPERIOR. Hmmm?

You do realise that WITHOUT being tethered to your laptop, you would be 'surfing wirelessly', no? That's how a cellphone works, dumbass. Why the fuck would you require your fucking laptop in the first place?

Only a MORON purchases an iPhone. I have this:

Please, tell me the faggot in that picture is you, ya arian twat.

Anyway, I never extolled the benefits of one OS over another. Mac and Windows machines both have their benefits. That's why I own both.

What I was getting at was that Mac is losing sales because they're not offering a phone which allows WiFi tethering (which by the way is another name for ssh wireless connection, fuckwit) without having to hack the software. The iPhones have been capable of WiFi tethering since the first generation. Droid is just now boasting their capability to create ad-hoc networks. So, I guess, yeah, mac, in this case, was better than their counterpart, and four generations ahead.

Suck it, fuckly.

*rubs my temples* Fool, WHY would you require any WIFI when you have a WIRELESS CELLPHONE? WTF? I simply do not see the point in this. Surely no one can be THIS stupid as you display here?

What sort of question is that? OK, here's the short answer.

Instead of having to buy a 3g or 4g usb modem, I can just use my iPhone as a wireless 3g modem, thus allowing me to surf the web on my laptop from anywhere in the US.

Why would I use my laptop vs using my phone? Well, for starters, my laptop has a MUCH bigger screen than my phone. Second, even though the iPhone comes with a kickass browser, the one on my laptop is superior. Third, because it's cool and I can. Four, porn is so much easier to view on the laptop.
Five, you're a twat, shut up.

What you should really be asking is: why would anyone want a 3g iPad? It's just an oversized iPhone that can't make phone calls.

Dude my WinMo phone has had WiFi/USB tethering since the stone ages. That is, without hacks, and almost entirely plug and play.

Almost every POS phone with built in WiFi and 3g radio has this capability. It is the restrictive software and carrier BS that prevent you from using it, thus requiring hacks. But since no one likes WinMo it's complete openess kind of slipped through the radar I guess.

The first gen iPhone was a featureless brick that did not even have 3g making it nearly worthless to hack for tethering. AT&T sucks and wants you to pay an extra $60 a month to use something you are already paying for. For some reason Jobs likes the feel of AT&T's dick up his ass. Therefore, you are unlikely to see tethering as an official feature for awhile.

And my phone is a fucking radar detector, and it has Sim City 2000 on it, and I can dual boot 3 different versions of Android. ZOMFG
