I need some good movie recommendations!

top of my head:
Hero
Destiny Turns on the Radio
Once Upon A Time in Mexico
Sean of the Dead
The Motorcycle Diaries (this might offend your red white and blue sensibilites however, but it's a great film)
Fearless
Kill Bill 1 & 2

Eggsy, have you actually watched Bad Education? I'm a huge fan of Almodovar, but somehow missed this.

Speaking of Almodovar, have you seen his All About My Mother?
Incredible, brilliant, stunning; one of my all-time favourites ever.
Too foreign for you, Big D. :P

^^I don't mind good foreign films; in fact my #5 all-time favorite movie is Amelie. I just don't like pretensious foreign films.

I'll have to check Eggs' list and add some!

Crash
Shaun of the Dead
28 Days Later (oh, Cillian!)
8 Mile
Bourne Identity/Supremacy
Brazil
Casino Royale again

DON'T watch Saw II it's shite

^^Only one of those I haven't seen is Shaun of the Dead, and it's been added.

I didn't particularly like the original Saw, I figured out the "twist" about 1/2way in. So no SawII for me.

I liked the Bourne Supremacy, but thought Bourne Identity was better. I didn't like the killing off of Franke Potante's character, and the car chase at the end, while very exciting, had me thinking, "Why the hell didn't the airbags go off like a hundred times?!?" The one dude was driving a $90,000 Mercedes SUV, and the airbags didn't go off? Took me right out of the moment.

Oh, look, The Tube is showing Pet Shop Boys' "West End Girls"!! Gotta run!!

My mom's birthday is coming up, I think I'll get Little Miss Sunshine for her.

^IIRC you were the one who recommended that to me - and I loved it! It's an excellent film.
But what are some examples of 'pretentious' foreign films so I'll know what you mean by that...it's a rather subjective term.

lolz! - I had been just about to post - usually I hate those bloody French "intellectual" art films" !

Don't see The Transporter or its sequel.

Saw The Transporter on HBO, it was decent but not great by any means. I'll probably watch II just for the helluvit.

Have you seen "Crank"? That's one of the next movies I have coming.

I don't know what you think Snatch was derivative of - because it followed Lock, Stock and Barrel? But you are correct, Statham and Pitt were superb.
But IMHO It's an excellent film, not just "good".

I forgot about Lucky Number Slevin! ha - didn't see that twist at the end coming!

Crank is great if you like Jason Statham in action-film mode, which I do. Nothing deep, but entertaining for all that. I liked the Transporter movies cos I never went in expecting Academy Award standards. Shoot 'em up / car chases are fun in of themselves if yer in the mood.

Trainspotting is a must if yer a Ewan Mcgregor fan and ye've not seen it yet. It's old now, but still well acted, well-crafted.

By the way, for family fare, A Night At the Museum is quite magical, very funny, and Danny Kay's in it!!

it wasn't UTTER shite! Just mildy so! It had Jason Statham in it!!!!mgtyfzr!
film critics! :rwmad: always wanting plots and thoughtful scripts!!!!!!1111

yes, even though I loathe Tom Cruise...I will concede MI3 was good action.

Eh, MI:3 didn't do anything for me. It was just ok in my book.

Trainspotting is great, I love Bobby Carlyle's character. And yeh, he's me mate, I can call him "Bobby" so fuck off ya tosser! ;)
