Polar Man states that he models himself after a figure in an Inuit legend, an unknown white man, who provided food and clothing to people in need. Instead of riding on the back of a polar bear ("It's dangerous and it's against the law"), Polar Man walks it in winter and bikes in summer.
REAL LIFE ACTIVITIES
A fixture at most community events, Polar Man shovels elders' steps and walkways, entertains children and prowls the streets some nights keeping an eye out for vandals and straightening out swings at playgrounds. Polar Man is easily the most recognizable person in town. His costume consists of black boots, white sweat pants with black shorts and a white karate belt (for visibility), three layers on top plus black leather gloves and, of course, a mask."
