I would've thrown Janeway in the brig

Yub

Anachrophobic
Not given her a promotion to the rank of Admiral. She was a stupid cow.

Janeway being ranked higher than Picard was wrong on EVERY LEVEL.

B&B actually blocked Sisko from being promoted to Admiral during the war on DS9, because they didnt want him higher in rank than Picard and Janeway.

So without that bit of story telling, you still have one captain ordering these massive fleets around, which is clearly the job of an admiral.

It was like teh DS9 writers accepted they couldnt give him the promotion, but just acted as if they had

I'd have thrown Janeway into bed and taken her roughly, by the way.

I'd have grabbed her by the bun.

IS WACKY Q?

Janeway was likeable at first, then got space pms and became a bitch.

I hate how she does what she likes and expects the crew to back her up. Then the crew will break rank and do what they like and she'll throw Starfleet regs at them and demote them.

Bottom line: I hate having to sit through Voy to get to DS9.

Big fish small pond deal.

Imagine the stress of running a ship full of horny wankers :D

Rewatching the VOY pilot, the reasons Janeway gave for destroying the array were just dumb. They could have come up with a better reason for the crew being stranded on Deltagan's Island than that. Her arbitrary decision to help the Ocampa after all they'd been through to that point just made her an idiot.

Otherwise, good pilot. Too bad they played so fast and loose with the Trekverse later on.

The problem with Janeway was the COMPLETEY inconsistent writing: some weeks she was Picard, some weeks she was a rule-breaking ball-busting bitch. I remember in one later episode she claimed she'd never broken the prime directive and I spat coke all over the tv (I was drinking coke.)

Plus they really fucked up with how long it would take to fly back.

If its 70,000 light years to home, and it would take them 70 years to get there, then that means the most up to date ship starfleet has can only fly 1000 light years a year, or in other words, about 3 light years a day.

Meaning that from earth it takes two days to get to the nearest star, and a TNG episode like teh chase, where tehy go from vulcan, to klingon worlds, and romulan worlds should have taken years.

Still I guess "Oh no, we're 70,000 light years from home, and its going to take us 5 months to get back" wouldnt have had quite teh same impact

HOW CAN THESE GUYS HAVE BEEN JERKING US AROUND SO FOR 40 YEARS?? WHAT HAVE WE BEEN DOING WITH OUR LIVES????

That's it. From now on, I'm only talking about Full House. At least the Olsen Twins let you know where they stand.

Janeway outranked Picard because Kirk told Picard not to accept promotion so that he wouldn't leave the bridge of a Starship but on the other hand Starfleet seemed to really want to get Kathy out of the damn Captain's Chair ASAP.

WORD!

But it's unfair to fault Janeway for being erratic LOL INSERT MENSTRUAL PUNCHLINE HERE LOL.

I always knew she couldnt be trusted when she kept trying to pass herself off as Columbos wife.

Even taking the Picard doesn't want to be an admiral thing into account, Starfleet shouldn't have promoted her out of principal. Fucking asign her to work with all those EMH Mark Ones scrubbing rocks or whatever.

Indeed.

While getting Voyager home was indeed good, wasent it her first command?

If that is the case, a promotion to admiral was a bit premature. Take Picard he had many years of command under his belt before being offered a promotion.

Ensign Janeway graduated from the Academy and was assigned to Admiral Paris's staff in San Francisco in 2357. At Paris's request, Janeway assisted civilian advisor Kyle Riker uncover the involvement of Vice-Admiral Horace Bonner in the Tholian attack on Starbase 311 in 2353, as well as several attempts on Riker's life.

Tired of sitting behind a desk, Admiral Paris made the decision to get back into the game and arranged to be in command of the USS Al-Batani for the year-long Arias expedition. Admiral Paris asked Janeway to join his crew as junior science officer. (TLE novel, Deny Thy Father; Mosaic).

Note: The novel Mosaic states that Janeway's first posting was aboard the USS Icarus, however, later canon sources revealed that her first posting was the Al-Batani.

Six months into the Arias Expedition, Admiral Paris and Janeway were in a shuttlecraft orbiting Utrea II, when they were captured by the Cardassian, Gul Camet. The two officers were rescued by Lt. Tighe, whose life was in turn saved by Janeway. As a result, Paris recommended that Janeway switch from science division to command division.

In 2358, Janeway lost both her fiance and father while they were testing the prototype ship Terra Nova on Tau Ceti Prime. While making a final approach for landing, the ship crashlanded on Tau Ceti into a polar icecap. While Kathryn survived the crash, the others were frozen to death. She was rescued and took a leave of absence to deal with her deep depression.

In 2359, Janeway returned to active duty and announced her intention to switch to the command division at Starfleet Headquarters. At the arrangement of Admiral Paris, Janeway spent six months on an Earth-bound assignment before being assigned a deep-space mission. While on Earth, she started to become closer to Mark Johnson.

In 2363, Captain Janeway assumed command of the USS Billings. The Billings was her first proper command, and she often felt deeply responsible for her actions and the effects on her crew. Following one away team mission, she felt deeply responsible for the loss of Ensign Yvonne Harper's legs, unborn child, and sanity(VOY episodes: "Revulsion" and "Night"; and novels: Pathways and Cloak and Dagger).

In 2365, the now Captain Janeway was in command of the USS Bonestell on a six-month exploratory mission of the Beta Quadrant. Following the mission, Janeway went before a review board consisting of Admiral Paris, Admiral McGeorge Finnegan, and Admiral Alynna Nechayev. Ensign Tuvok was called in to criticize Janeway's ignorance of tactical regulations on the mission, and it was recommended by Admiral Finnegan that Tuvok served under Janeway on her next deep-space mission. Janeway and Tuvok were still serving together on the Bonestell when Janeway asked Tuvok to transfer with her to Voyager.
