I think all animals have some kind of soul... since I think our soul is really just our consciousness, our brain. Their souls aren't exactly the same, because FOR INSTANCE a dog's soul talks in woofs. If an animal dreams, and I know dogs dream, then it seems to me that they've got something more going on in their cute little heads than just slobbery urges to hunt.
 
There's no reason to believe our souls are permanent, then.

But that's what makes me sure there's no afterlife. If animals have souls then they should have an afterlife, but the idea of flies going to heaven when they die is preposterous, so why should we?
