Fanboy 99 got his name from an accident that occurred in his dorm room during college, during which he tripped over a floor fan while inebriated in his dorm room, and fractured his leg. He earned the nick from that event. He joined Comicon in 1999, hence the screen Fanboy99.
What's even more interesting is that he was in the World Trade Center lobby on September 11th, when the ceiling collapsed his leg (the same one) was crushed in the debris that fell as the building was collapsing and the leg that was crushed in the debris was amputated after he got to the hospital.
He survived, and is still alive.
