Why couldn't the thread have been edited to take out any personal details and/or the offending posts? There was excellent discussion going on there, and certainly the whole thread was not a violation of the policy, as it had moved from the actual act to a discussion on the morality of said act.

There were no personal details. I point you to the bold text in the rule I posted, viz, don't claim to be phoning someone.

Since it formed the entire basis of the thread, it was moved. If it had been edited out, the opening post would have made no sense, and the entire context of the thread lost. Any discussion of the morality of said act is negligible, as the rule covers it. Common sense dictates the whole thread is better off removed than leaving stripped bones behind.
 
Which was why I said "nice work". I like the way Gagh has been handling his admin responsibilities.

Rules are rules and if the discussion about the morality is your reason for complaining, start another thread. If you want to plan any of the against-the-rules actions, there's an article on ED for just this purpose.
 
Me either, but what's a thread deletion to chantards like us?

On boards like this, I'd rather it be the offending post that gets punished, not the fun thread that followed it.

Either way, as an admin, there really is no correct decision about something like this.
