I'm about done with Revolution (possible spoilers)

Conchaga

Let's fuck some shit up
Charlie's a whiny bitch

The science in the show is WAY off-base - you don't need a complicated electronic rig to set off a nuclear device. You just need a small catalyzing explosion on the outer shell of the explosive core. A fuckin' brick of c-4 with a time-delay fuse would be more than sufficient.

If the nanites absorbing the power absorb power, WE WOULD ALL BE DEAD!

The plots are see-through: OMG, there's a symbolic knife, betcha it'll be used to kill the bad guy. It's the old "if there's a gun on stage, it's going to go off" cliche.

Here's the bit that really annoys me. Why send a lone suicide bomber with a pendant, when you can tape one to a missile, and have the controlling radio tower under power as well? Just fire a fucking rocket into Atlanta and be done with it.

I'm going to give the series another two shows to get their shit straight, after that, I'm not watching any more.

I gave up after the lighthouse episode. I was getting NO enjoyment out of the show and it was a chore to watch. And yeah, the character Charlie and the twit that plays her are what ruined what could have been a brainless but mildly fun show for me. Even Terra Nova was better than this dreck.

I sense the "Charlie is a whiny bitch" is the real reason and the "science behind it" thing is you trying not to sound like a whiny bitch yourself.

You can see where this is going...

Well, in the first post you sounded like a whiny bitch, but you've followed it up with a passive aggressive post so I am confused.

You are now wondering if I am just being a twat and mucking around, or am I genuinely confronting an inherent truth about you as an individual.

You can see where this is going...

Nice armchair psychological analysis, Freud. Wrong, but still fun to watch you playing the pot calling the kettle black. What's next, Erik? Gonna tell me I failed in resolving my Fidelity stage? Shut up, moron.

There... That directly aggressive enough for ya? Not that my second post was all that veiled to begin with. I thought my disdain for your covert aggression and conjecture was fairly obvious.

If it makes you feel any better about yourself, do go ahead and specifically list just how I'm a whiny bitch. It'll be entertaining.

How many other shows have you quit because of bad science? I presume you didn't make it through, say, season one of TNG if it's such a dealbreaker?

It's that the show writers feel the need to explain things that don't really need explaining and then overcomplicate things that don't need to be complicated.

For instance, in this latest episode, Miles finds a knife he gave to one of the former officers he trained. They didn't need a flashback. All they needed was the one line with him looking worried and saying, "yeah, it belonged to someone I trained. I gave it to him." End. No more backstory. We already knew Miles was a dick before quitting his army. Why did they feel the need to fill in the time with a fluff backstory?

As for the bad science in TNG, well, at least they didn't feel the need to explain everything and we already knew they're living in a time several hundred years into the future. TNG's universe's science is very different from ours, so it's very simple to suspend disbelief.

Revolution is supposed to take place 15 years from now, with technology from today - even though it's a bit old and rusty by the time we see it in the show. How are we supposed to believe that they don't have control of ICMB complexes scattered throughout the northeast? The Monroe Republic encompasses DC! That means they could get their hands on info from the Pentagon! Why did they need to send a highly techo'd-out briefcase with a nuke? As I explained upthread, it could've been a simple rig you could fit inside a Jansport backpack and didn't require electricity.

Don't believe me? Watch this:

Everything after 1min is footage from nuclear tests elsewhere. The part I'm emphasizing is that the nuclear device wasn't much larger than a man and could have up to a 15kt yield - 1kt less than "Little Boy" that did this to Hiroshima.

Before

After

"Atomic Annie", the cannon featured in the video is on display in Virginia... Well within Monroe's borders.

So, not only scientific inconsistencies, but historical ones, too.

I sense a real step back here, You need to get back on the couch and tell me about the relationship with your father.
