Indiana Jones 4

I think I've been spending too much time online instead of reading for the last few months. I feel my fascination with the internet waning though, hopefully I'll get back into books again soon. I miss getting lost in another world.

That's because you were thinking of orgasm.

The only King novel that I gave me the creeps as a movie/tv show was IT.

The Grudge gave me the creeps. Only watched the first few minutes.

I'm not a big fan or horror movies, but I do want to see the Saw movies.

I'm getting better with horror flicks. It used to be that I couldn't watch them without covering my eyes, and I never watched them voluntarily. Now, I still jump, but I don't mind being scared shitless as much.

I'm more fond of thrillers, though. Like Red Dragon. Movies with great twists are the best.

I'll probably see the new Indy flick next week sometime, that is if I can drag a certain bovine boy out to the theater. I've always been a fan (in fact, I can remember watching Temple of Doom when I was about 5 years old and loving it) so it just seems natural that I'll see it.

One thing I have to know, though. Did they leave it open for more movies to follow?

I'm more fond of comedies/action adventure/scifi.

Temple of Doom at 5? Lucky. First movie I saw was E.T. when I was 7.

Temple of Doom, The Goonies, and Milo and Otis were all staples of my childhood ;)

I tried watching E.T. when I was a kid, and it scared the shit out of me. I don't think I've actually seen the whole movie.

Yeah its open for more films, the end is a real hoot, and a kick up the arse for everyone who said they would be passing the baton to Shia for the next one.

I think this is more a tribute to Indy films than an actual Indy film, if that makes sense.

I think its as Indy as the rest of them, you have to wonder what it would have been like though, if there had been an Indy film every three years since last crusade came out.

A lot of movies.

Yeah, but maybe if we had the new technology introduced gradually, you wouldnt have people complaining about photorealistic CGI, when they should have been using paper mache and action men.

I saw the first one in the theater when I was a kid, lol. It's the only movie I remember throwing my popcorn in the air.

On purpose, or in shock?

SHOCK! Can't remember what happened but whatever it was I jumped and threw some popcorn... then laughed hysterically cause I was only 13 or 14.

Probably when the spears come through the wall with the dead guy stuck on them.

I still love that airplane propeller scene, so fucked up!

Good point about the CGI, I am sick of the whining, as if ANY CGI automatically makes a movie bad. You get the feeling people are only looking out for CGI so they can complain about it (no matter how good it looks) on message boards, rather than watching the movie. The only reason there wasn't CGI in the original Indy movies is becasue they were made in the eighties!

I am one of those people who really finds CGI jarringly "off" compared to old-school special effect. I would rather have people use old school models, etc... Like I find the battle of Hoth more realistic than fight scene in eps. 1 - 3, as an example.

And I'm really NOT just saying that. I think too much CGI looks like shit, and totally sucks me out of the plotline. However, you can use it to good effect, like in Iron Man there was only one sequence (one where the suit was getting put on him by robots) that to me looked CGI-goofy.

You you can tell it's CGI then it's not good CGI.

I think that's why everyone is so RAAGGGHGHGHHHH CGI I HATE IT SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!! because they only time they notice it is when it's bad.

Yeah, exactly. Like if it's subtle and realistic I could care less WHY or HOW a scene looks like that.

Also probably should have mentioned that I think bad-CGI tend to stand out more at home on a hi-def TV than in a theatre on a huge blurry silver screen.

Bad practical effects stand out too. Somtimes you get people complaining about "the CGI" when it was actually a practical effect.
