Into The Wild

I want to smell dark matter
Has anyone seen this movie?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0758758/

I just watched it. It's based on a true story. Wasn't a bad way to spend two and a half hours. The acting is good, the cinematography is beautiful and the soundtrack is pretty good too. It is a bit long and drags in the middle, and the main character...well, he's a bit selfish and idiotic. But interesting and it'll make you think (or it made me think anyway.)

^That's how my friend described him. Just frelling stupid. Don't know if I want to see it since it's a true story.

OTOH, I watched The Golden Compass. It was okay. Not enough Daniel Craig. And it ended abruptly, and I don't see anything on IMDB about a second one in the making.

He's not totally stupid about everything...just in some pretty significant ways. You can look up the real guy for "spoilers" if you like. The ending is quite moving. There's other good character in it (though none of them for as long as you'd like.)

I haven't seen Compass, every review I've read has been "meh".

EDIT: Yes, Emilie Hirsch is quite pretty and charming. Kristen Stewart is nice too in her short, heart-breaking appearance. Sex scene would have been welcome, even if it didn't happen in real life.

I was expecting to be overwhelmed by TGC, and it didn't happen. The actress who played Lyra was great, and Nicole Kidman played a pretty good bitch, but there was just something missing. And I'm not ashamed to admit that after all these years, I still think Sam Elliott is the shit.

There's probably no way TGC could live up to the book and get past the religious nuts in the US.

True. My friend won't see it because the author is an athiest.

That's pretty lame. I wonder how many other films he/she has seen directer or written be atheists without their knowing? Or do they research every movie they see in case an atheist is involved?

TGC got a lot of fundie hype in the US.. I know someone who won't see it or let his kids see it because of the "anti-Christian" message it has.

great movie, the sound track is on the list to buy. All solos by Eddie Vedder. Super titz!

Eggs and I can predict trends.

Emile was sexy in Lords of Dogtown when he shaves his head and got tats.

He has a brief nude scene in Into The Wild, floating naked on a river, but you'd need to stick your eyes right up to the screen to see his cock.

Or just capture the frame and use zoom tool in Photoshop (I hear).

If you're interested in that kind of thing.
