Here are my thoughts on the entire season. DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT SPOILERS FOR THE WHOLE SEASON. I'm not using spoiler tags because nobody ever replies to spoiler tagged posts.
It was a much better season than season one. That doesn't mean it was my favourite superhero tv show ever or anything, but it wass an easier watch than some of these Marvel Netflix shows. The story flowed quite well and only being ten episodes instead of thirteen certainly helped. I remember Joy and Ward having a lot of seemingly irrelevant scenes in season one but they were mostly used as part of the main story here (I guess they could have left out all Ward's addiction meeting stuff.) It did still drag a bit once Danny lost his powers and Colleen had to retrain him.
Speaking of Danny, I liked how they seemed to listen to the criticism in season one about him not being suited to be the Iron Fist. He aknowledged that himself here, the whole season ended up being about how Colleen would be better as the Iron Fist...then she ended up getting the fist and keeping it! I thought something would stop that from happening, but nope. It was a good development. Of course Danny ended up with his kind of weird magic guns in the closing scene (I know they're a thing from a comic I haven't read) and will still be a part of season three. But I like that Colleen is the title character now.
While Danny was improved from the first season, he still isn't interesting enough to be the main character. He was still pretty dull a lot of the time and it was hard to care about him, even though I did like that he realised himself that Colleen was much better than him. Mother than any other of these shows the supporting cast cary it and lucikly it a very strong supporting cast. Colleen is great, Misty was very good here, especially teamed with Colleen, and the Meachams are both played by good actors. Alice Eve really impressed me as Mary too, though it did very much feel like just a prologue for her real story (and the reason why she was determined to kill Davos at the end was kind of stupid.)
Davos as a villain suffered from having the same motivation that all super hero villains seem to have now: wanting to use evil means for the "greater good." I mean it was pretty similar to Killmonger's story but without the depth so Davos ended up looking really petty (and of course they do the thing where the power of the fist makes him go mad to explain why he goes full villain.) The actor was good though and did an especially good job during the action scenes (much more convincing than, you guessed it, Danny!)
But yeah I enjoyed the season and am actually fairly confident I'll enjoy season 3 too, something I never thought I'd say after the first season and Defenders.
