Is being obsessed with something the same as liking something?

I wish I could have a day inside a neuro-typical's brain to feel what things are supposed to be like and compare them to the imitation feelings I have invented for myself.

My opinion on this subject is so fucked up....For myself and someone else...nope...can't do it right now. Short answer is that reality is something that exists in the moment. Whether that reality means something later on is another question entirely but individually truth exists as we see it moment to moment for ourselves, not what others observe.

Yeah, you're right, I concede. It was a pretty original thought you had there. I was blown away and just had to run with it.

Did 25 hits of acid and came away with that nugget of wisdom. I'm sure some philosopher covered it before me, but it's an original thought of mine.

Well, it's a pleasure to meet you.

I have a minor problem, it's this wine I have you see. It's tepid. Could you please place it in a refrigeratory recepticle until it reaches 42 degrees farenheit?

Thanks.

Meanwhile I'll be out back, pissing in your garden. :hattip:

LOL I'M OLD TOO!

You have a problem with tepid wine? I'm drinking a tall glass that has been stagnating in 30 degree heat for two days. Wine, no matter its state or quality is always a blessing. Cheers.

No I'm Irish sir, I can't drink malt liquor warm, but anything else with alcohol in it is drinkable regardless of temp.

I don't believe being obsessed and liking are the same thing. People can become obsessed with something they hate - say the person that murdered their loved one for example.

The second thing you mention is far more interesting to me because it's echoed some things I've been thinking lately. It is clear, from simply looking around at the people in the world, that their brains are not functioning the same as mine. They don't feel the constant anxiety or depression that I often feel. And I know that medication helps me feel better, but I have no idea what 'normal' is.

But, what interests me about this is that reality has not changed. I see the world and get filled with anxiety, most people see it and don't, and it's the same exact world. In computer programming terms we'd call that a different view into the same data. You can show the same data in a spread sheet or pie chart for example.

This gives me hope that I, through medication and therapy and hard work and perhaps a little luck, can someday figure out how to change my view into reality, to one that causes me less pain. It's not much hope, but it's better than feeling like there is no hope.

Yeah, it's becoming increasingly obvious to me that I don't properly "like" anything (that's the whole reason the fuckdamn Wacky Hot One Hundred creepiness exists.)

But then I wonder about the things I do enjoy doing but am not obsessed with (like say Paper Mario.) Is that proper like? Why can't I apply that thought process to everything?
