Is it ok to paint black people ?

Or should only black artists paint black people?

Serious question.

Well, if you're white, and I'm assuming you are, you're kind of damned if you do... damned if you don't.

If you don't paint them, you'll be accused of exclusion.

If you do paint them, you'll be accused of cultural appropriation.

So do what you want, and fuck anyone who doesn't like it.

I've been painting a lot of things and people from 80s TV shows lately, I was going to do Mr T, but my wife thought it might be offensive. Don't want to upset people, but I've already painted black characters in the past, pre the current situation. Captain Holt and Ricardo Tubbs.

I thought you meant literally paint on their skin and wondered why you'd be doing that...

Pretty sure it's fine as long as you're not painting offensive stereotypes (but you wouldn't be.)

Well, basically, all you need is a blob of black paint, a red smear for the bubble lips, and white for the eyes and teeth. For extra points, some green and yellow for watermelon stains around the lips.

I want to see the Mr T painting. Ahmo bus you up.

I PITY THE FOOL WHO THINKS A MR. T PAINTING IS RACIST.

That was awesome! Great job!

And you didn't paint him in a plane.

Thanks everyone, I can see parts of it I could have done better, but I see that in most of my paintings.

I would think it'd all depend on what color you plan to paint them.

Remember when he killed Mickey.
