I've more or less stopped watching TV

I just got access to Disney plus recently so I have watched some shows, tonight I started watching Jessica Jones, and I just looked at the date, its from 2015. Oh well.

I have Disney, Amazon and Netflix. Seems as though the more subs I have, the less I watch.

NuTrek (if I weren't already a general Trek fan I wouldn't be arsed, so this is my only hate-watching indulgence), Better Call Saul & Mandalorian.

Other series that are must-watch when they release are The Crown, Cobra Kai and Sex Education.

Marvel - I watched WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier & Loki as they released; haven't watched Hawkeye or Moon Knight and doubt I will.

Can't think of anything else. There are plenty of shows which are meant to be good that I've caught snippets of (Ozark, Succession), but I just don't have the inclination to dedicate time to watching / concentrating.

When I scroll through the apps I struggle to find anything to put on in the background. Tried TNG but I've seen it too many times. Probably watch more older movies than new shows lately.

Over the past year I've gravitated more towards gaming. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a PS5 early and have caught up on a bunch of PS4 games patched for PS5. Just finished The Last of Us, which was a better written and more emotionally engaging story than anything I've watched over the past year or two (save for Better Call Saul).

^Hawkeye is good, definitely better than Falcon and Winter Soldier which had really dodgy writing (just my opinion don't take it as fact lol.)

I am too busy watching the construction workers outside to watch any TV.

I'm a total sexist, or pervert, or whatever its called when I oogle at male hunks. Is that a word? Oogle? What word am I trying to say? OMG What is wrong with me!?
Whistle at them and shout catcalls. Tell them what you'd like to do with a body like their's. This is social justice/feminism I can get behind.

Watched WandaVision to see WTF was up with the time jump thing. It was okay enough that I finished that one, though the supernatural catfight thing stretched my tolerance a little. Loki I went into with goodwill on the main character's account... they burned that goodwill out when they pulled a gender-swap to all but sideline him in his own show. Not that the gender swap itself was the problem; that's something that happened more than once in the actual mythology they lifted the character from -- it was the choice to shove the character I actually wanted to watch the show for into the back seat so they could put a wahmen in top billing. Nope. The show wasn't called Magic Bitch We Just Made Up. Don't mind the inclusion; do mind what felt like a bait-and-switch.

Considering my habits when I was younger revolved around genre TV extensively my TV watching habits today are completely different. I have turned into one of those elitists that doesn't find much modern genre stuff that engaging at all. I also don't find that passively watching shows hits the same way it did back in the day. I usually have a story-based game I'm playing (Final Fantasy 14 eternally) and stuff like Chrono Trigger, Elden Ring and Divinity Original Sin II are currently in rotation and those take up a lot of screen time and vie (successfully) for my attention when it comes to entertainment and my gaming backlog currently would have me set for the next decade already so that won't slow down.

This year I have started watching more TV than I have in a long time but I find myself going back to the 90s and prefer watching old stuff again than trying to engage with more modern shows. I am currently rewatching Angel and I'm 3 episodes in on an SG1 rewatch from the very beginning for the first time since I casually watched it when it first came out. Farscape, Buffy, Twin Peaks, and X-Files have all been rewatched in the past couple of years. I'm also watching old 90's WWF in long-form which has been a blast.

I am not completely done with new shows and I have enjoyed Yellowjackets which Wacky suggested quite a lot and Ozark, Squid Game, Mandalorian, Resident Alien, etc are a few which I have liked but I watch these shows at a very slow and erratic pace which makes it hard to engage with the discussions here that are happening as soon as the next episode drops.

Essentially I don't like the 2020s AT ALL and try to engage with it mentally as little as possible. I will be giving Strange New Worlds an attempt though because I have to even if modern Trek has beaten me into submission at this point and there will be other shows that I pick up but I doubt I'll go back to the more hardcore binge-watching I did when I was younger.
