All In With The Nuts
For Jericho Residents, It's Really Over

National upheaval caused by a nuclear assault? Easy. Nielsen ratings? Hard. Despite efforts from zealous fans to keep Jericho alive — including the now-famous peanut incident — Tuesday's episode will be its last.

"The March 25 episode... will be the series finale," CBS entertainment boss Nina Tassler says in a statement. "Without question, there are passionate viewers watching this program; we simply wish there were more. We thank an engaged and spirited fan base for keeping the show alive this long, and an outstanding team of producers, cast and crew that went through creative hoops to deliver a compelling, high-quality second season.... We're proud of everyone's efforts."

Two "finales" were filmed for Tuesday: one that left viewers with a cliff-hanger (in the event of a Season 3), and one that resolves things a bit more. The latter edit, now headed to your screens, will leave fans "not too happy," Skeet Ulrich confirmed in this Mitovich Mega Minute Q&A (at the 3:00 mark):

Video Interview with Skeet

Those who helped saved Jericho the first time around shouldn't feel bad: Although the series faced worse ratings this year, the fans' efforts to keep it alive are seen as one of the biggest outpourings of support for a show, ever. Did the show get every chance it deserved? Are you already mourning the loss? — Anna Dimond, with reporting by Matt Mitovich
Never really got into it, but it's a bummer nonetheless.

The show sucked...BAD, really bad.

I guess when the fans brought it back, they should have tried watching it more?

As the strike kept dragging on, Americans watched less TV in general. Now it's tougher to lure them back since some of them seem to have found better things to do.

It's one of the best new shows in a really long time. I can't believe it didn't get better ratings. I'm sure the fans who brought it back watched it, but they just weren't enough.

At least we have twenty episodes of BSG guaranteed by THE LORD ALMIGHTY.

Theres a rumour the BSG episodes will be dark, gritty, and almost relentlessly grim.

And that's just Edward James Olmo's face!

:rimshot:

Jericho rocked (well, it continues to rock up until Tuesday). The first season was a bit slow in places and the first few episodes felt a bit like a dragged out disaster tv movie, but it really got into its stride towards the end and season two's been fantastic. Every episode has been gripping from start to finish. In fact, I'd say it's better than Lost.
