Jessica Jones

I just finished episode 6 and yeah this is really good and I'd probably say it's better than Daredevil although they're sort of different shows so maybe it's unfair to compare them.

Well, one of them has Krysten Ritter and the other doesn't so it was never going to be a fair fight.

Watched up to episode six now and enjoying it a lot. It's like if Faith had her own series (and was played by a better actress).

I finished it. FULL SPOILERS BELOW.

I would rank it above Daredevil on the whole. It was certainly better pace than Daredevil I think, as Daredevil kind of had a slump after the halfway point and some of the Karen/Foggy/Ben stuff didn't really pay off after taking up a lot of time. Whereas this...well, okay, they maybe did one too many "Jessica has Kilgrave prisoner but he escapes" moment but I the final episodes were just as strong as the early ones. The subplots all ended up being important in some way. I did wonder why there were spending so much time on the lesbian divorce but it had quite a chilling ending with the slashes (and counting them!) The one wacky neighbour woman felt like she belonged in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt but I guess there really are people like that living in New York.

Daredevil had better fight scenes but this was a detective noir whereas Daredevil was about a fucking ninja so that's to be expected. And it did have some good super hero type fights in the later episodes.

Acting was very good from everyone and as well as those I previously mentioned I'll say the young woman playing Hope did a great job playing a damaged girl. I did wonder why they cast a guy who looked like a slightly ugly Chris Evans as the cop guy until I realised he was a character from the comics.

So having him look like a fucked up Captain America was good casting! I liked that Patsy got a fight scene.

(Half the posts on tumblr are idiots agry that Jess and Patsy were sisters instead of ex girlfriends lol.)

WHAT DID EVERYONE ELSE THINK?

Binge watched it. Liked it. Was it ever disclosed how Reva came into possession of the thumb drive that Kilgrave wanted so badly?

Looks like the next season will be about IGH. Some explaining needs to be done about Simpson too.

Luke is scary, especially with his shirt off, but, I'd like to see lots more of that.

We never found out how Reva got the thumb drive. I assumed she was looking into experiments on human subjects beause she was trying to find out what had been done to Luke. There's going to be a Luke Cage show next year so I'm sure we'll find out more then.

Just finished it. I'll probably post more later but for now I'll say I really enjoyed it. Good acting all round, consistently written, kept me guessing and it explored some interesting ideas. One of my favourite parts was when Killgrave made Jessica's former neighbour admit she was playing a martyr to feel important. Something that we're all familiar with, but can't be brought out very easily unless you have a character who can force people to speak the truth.

My only complaint right now is that the final showdown didn't have a lot of tension. They certainly tried to keep us guessing whether Jessica was under control or not, but for whatever reason I never bought into it, so it felt pretty predictable. At least all our favourite characters were ok at the end.

Watched first episode, didn't immediately play another bunch of episodes, so this hasnt grabbed me as much as Daredevil.

I think the overall gloom and grimness makes it less of a feelgood series than DD, while it could be dark in places, there were people that smiled now and again.

Yes, it is very dark. Even the humour's quite dry and understated, and there were a few episodes that were so grim I just couldn't put myself through the wringer to watch another straight away. But I think those are strengths. David Tennant's character is a nightmare and something would be wrong if he made comfortable viewing.

I think the tone is appropriate to the subject matter, when you consider what she's been through (which becomes more clear as the season goes on.)

(It's a thing he says in the comics, but not usually after sex.)

Well seen it to the end, it does not feel as satisfying as the end to daredevil, it feels like they could have ended the Killgrave situation a lot sooner if she just realised quicker he couldn't control her.

This whole "I've caught him, oh he's got away" bit got old fast.

Well, I think the point was to show how easy it is for him to escape from captivity, to get to the point where the only way to stop him was to kill him.

CAPTAINWACKY THIS IS THE THREAD.

I just finished watching episode 11. This is the best show.
