John Hunter: Why do you deny half of your heritage?

man, I haven't had chorizo in about 15 years. All they got up here is friggin bagels and shit...California does have some good Mex food, and a helluva lot of fresh citrus. Usually all sold by the same Mexican...

We have pork and beef chorizo right here in the local grocery stores. I prefer pork myself, it has better flavor.

CA has such great Mexican food 'cause we have all the Mexicans. My favorite place to eat is a little over priced dive called Siquio's, very authentic.

And the citrus is unmatched, that's for sure and it's even better when purchased from Jaun on the street corner. ;)

Hunter's cool, and I've never seen him change his way of doing things in the face of overwhelming opposition. For that stubborn resolute attitude alone he gets respect in my book.

Besides, if Hunter embraced both sides of his heritage he'd have to watch himself suspiciously every time he went to the corner store, then try to shortchange himself at the register.

I've even argued w/ Laker Girl over it which led to me first posting my pics on here. They assumed I was hispanic, I clued them in.

Why do you feel the need to emphasize your "blackness"? Because I'm pretty sure you don't sound black when you speak. In fact, I'll bet you not only sound "white", you probably feel uncomfortable around groups of blacks, like an outsider, which is what you are. You're not black, John. You may be part black, but you cannot claim to be black. You are an "other", no matter how much you so desperately want that fact to go away.
