Los Angeles Lakers' LeBron James out for Wednesday's game vs. Sacramento Kings

LeBron James will miss a game for the first time this season when the Los Angeles Lakers play a road game against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday in their final outing before the NBA All-Star break, the Lakers said. James will still report to Atlanta this weekend to participate in his 17th straight All-Star Game, a source told ESPN, confirming a report by The Athletic.

LeBron James becomes part owner of Boston Red Sox, joins Fenway Sports Group as partner

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is joining Fenway Sports Group as a partner, giving him an ownership stake in its subsidiaries that include the Boston Red Sox, Liverpool Football Club, Roush Fenway Racing and the regional sports network NESN. James, 36, already owned 2% of Liverpool, the current English Premier League champion. In joining FSG and expanding his investment, James and his business partner Maverick Carter will become the company's first Black partners. With the Red Sox, James gets limited partnership in one of Major League Baseball's jewel franchises. The team's estimated value is more than $3 billion, and while it's expected to lag behind in the competitive American League East division this season, Boston has significantly improved its farm system and should increase its payroll going into the 2022 season after paring back spending the past two years.

LeBron James rookie card sells for record $5.2 million

It's good to be King. Even amid the longest injury stretch of his Hall of Fame career, somehow LeBron James still managed to rewrite record books. A 2003-04 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection RPA (rookie patch autograph) parallel LeBron James card, numbered out of 23, was sold privately for $5.2 million with PWCC Marketplace. The Beckett Grading Services-graded 9 card (with a perfect 10 signature) claims the throne for most expensive basketball card, knocking off the $4.6 million one-of-one 2018-19 Panini National Treasures Luka Doncic Logoman RPA sold in March. The sale ties the all-time record for any card with the 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle card purchased by Rob Gough this past January, also through PWCC. The jump from $1.85 million to $5.2 million for essentially the same card speaks to how ascendant James' hobby stock still is, particularly his RPAs. It also speaks to the motivation of this particular buyer -- who remains anonymous -- and the U.K.-based seller.

At 39, LeBron oldest with 3 straight triple-doubles
It was James' fourth triple-double of the season through 11 games to bring his career regular-season total up to 116. And it was his third straight, all coming in wins during L.A.'s 3-0 homestand.

__________
The triple-double streak is tied for the longest of James' 22-year career, matching the three he had from Nov. 1 to 5, 2019; Dec. 14 to 17, 2017; and March 7 to 12, 2009. At age 39, he is the oldest player in NBA history to record three straight triple-doubles.
