OH.. I didn't watch that show, I think Wacky already made a thread about it last night.

As a 30.5 year old, news like this always makes me feel a leetle uneasy.

Just keep a couple of extra hearts around and switch yours out if you feel like you're having trouble.

Why isn't anyone working on the robot heart? FOR FUCK'S SAKE.

They are: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artificial_heart

But, heart disease isn't always detectable before sudden death. The better long term solution is probably nano technology that you would get much like you get inoculations now.

These nano bots could detect early signs of artery blockage, perhaps even fix it. Though the first round will likely just be monitoring bots. Still, being able to detect instantly signs of cancer or heart disease will save a lot of lives.

This technology is a competing/overlapping technology with genetic manipulation. There are people working on simply making people with stronger hearts, and screening and fixing heart disease in vitro, etc...

Every decade you live could add another decade to your life. Immortality is coming, and fairly soon.

But then Lorne's heart disease was well known about for the last five years

I read he had been suffering from shortness of breath and was rushed to the hospital, then died later.

NOT SOON ENOUGH I FEAR.
