Just a recap of the past school year.
It went extremely well! My student and I got along famously, and he increased his EOG (the end-of-grade standardized test) by 15 points this year. Considering 7 points is one year's worth of growth, he progressed TWO years in the past one. I am so proud of him!
I received 90/95 on my annual evaluation, and I was told by the Assistant Principal that I "knocked it out of the park" this year. Yay me!
The most interesting thing, however, and the main reason I bumped this thread...
You know how, when you are interviewed, the interviewers portray the business (school, whatever) as a wonderful place to work? Well, the ladies who interviewed me told me that the school climate was a very positive one--everyone worked together as a team, and morale was high.
Well, it just so happens that those same ladies (and the entire Special Ed department, sans me 'cause I was new) put in for transfers this year due to the perceived lack of support by administration.
Just goes to prove that interviews are a load of bullshit on both sides. I still love my job, but the "shiny" has worn off, if you know what I mean.
