Lower Decks season five

Good finale. I like when they do a more serious story but still tell it in a Lower Decks way, and they wrapped up some character arcs while leaving the door open for the future (but there is no future.) I still think the first 6 episodes or so of this season were just kind of there. My biggest problem with the show is that they don't often go far enough in the story-telling. So this was more of the kind of thing I wanted to see.

The part where a Klingon ship changed into a sailing ship and the entire crew died was very dark for a normally light hearted show.

I liked it, it definitely felt like the characters had all grown but still left somewhere for them to go if Netflix bought them or something.

I'd like to think that while Lower Decks is coming to an end, it left the door open for the possibility of a new animated Star Trek series. Plenty of seeds were sown in those last couple scenes alone.

One thing that felt really shoe-hornded into the finale was Rutherford going from "I've fallen out of love with the Cerritos!" to "I need to get rid of my implant!" in the space of twenty minutes. This should have been his arc all season.
I bet that was meant to be a Season 6 through line.
