Mad Men 7x14 - Person to Person

Finally the internet gets to be disappointed in the end because it's not exactly what they were imagining for years!
 
And most of them never actually had an idea of how they wanted it to end, but they will all be certain it wasn't what they just watched!
 
Peggy remembered "a thing like that!" all those years. :)

I can't believe the whole series was just a dream the actors from that coke advert collectively had. :eek:

Called it, lol.

It was an interesting way to end it, but I would have gone another way with some characters, or at least shown more detail about their futures, or NOT TURNED STAN AND PEGGY INTO AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN, but I can see what they were shooting for and yeah I'm sure they were satisfied at how much they got all their little themes and easter eggs in but sometimes they do that at the expense of just telling the damn story. It's like they produce the episodes more for bloggers than normal viewers. OOOO I CAUGHT THAT RUNNING THEME OF HOW DON SPOKE TO 3 WOMEN ON THE PHONE AND EACH OF THEM TOLD HIM WHAT A FAILURE HE WAS and HEY THAT COUNSELOR'S INDIAN WRAP SHIRT IS JUST LIKE THE ONE THE 3RD SINGER ON THE RIGHT WEARS IN The COKE AD LOL AREN'T I CLEVER FOR HITTING PAUSE TEN TIMES AND SPOTTING THAT.

I like that episodic TV CAN get this densely packed, but I wonder if it always SHOULD be this densely packed. And then after all that, to have such a light touch applied to Don'e ending, which was over in a flash and totally open-ended...we don't know if Sam made it home or not, lol.

But I STILL LOVE THIS SHOW AND WILL WATCH IT AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN SO THERE.
 
The Peggy/Stan getting gother seems to be the thing I've seen most people complain about.

I've also seen people asking if the ending means that Don went back and made that Coke advert and I thought "yes, obviously he did." I mean that's what we're supposed to think, isn't it?

It was the smirk on his face when he was meditating that said it all. The Coke idea came to him then, but Peggy asking him, "Don't you want Coke?" (or something like that) that planted the seed. He just can't let advertising go.

Peggy is going to do like Stan said and make history but I don't think it's going to take 10 years. They'll be together though and I'm glad she finally found the love she was looking for.

I thought he was going to die for sure at a couple different points in the finale. Was he going to jump off that cliff? Was he having a heart attack at the phone? Stroke? (he discovered Betty's cancer then), was he going to off himself somewhere after giving that guy a hug and the all-male cry fest?

Nope. He surprised me a bit but all in all I think he's the same prick he always has been. Yes he's a prick.

I was kinda hoping Betty kicked it going up the stairs in school. Jesus that woman was one moody bitch and awful mother.

I hope they decide to bring it back at some point. The story is left wide open to carry on. My husband listens to some podcast where the writer talked about why he ended the show. It was because he said it was time and couldn't really develop the story any farther. I dunno about that. They left it so it can continue IMO.
 
That song was insanely popular when the ad came out in what? 1970? It was even played on the radio as a regular song. People were singing it for the sake of it back then too. That ad campaign was probably the most successful one for Coca Cola ever to be made. It's also the ultimate 'ear worm'. I have NEVER gotten that song out of my head since I first heard it. It's faded some over time, but it's back now full blast. BAH! earworm
 
Jesus, I just read that whole thing. I blame her in part for allowing him to touch her at all without saying a word and for continuing the interview hoping what she was hearing wasn't truly happening. If she opened her mouth and he continued, that would be a different story. AND she should have had some kind of recorder running the entire time.

And WTF with his publicist? She just sat there allowing him to carry on like a pig?

Wait, next he'll backpedal and say it was all on purpose in keeping with his character from Mad Men for the interview. pfft
 
That was a good read, Eggs. The comments at the bottom are quite entertaining too. So many ignorant kids making comments on something they really did not understand but think they did. Especially about the old Coke ad!

This one was hysterical because he missed the point of the ad so fantastically:

Not only is that Coke commercial corny, it's diabolical. It represents the sell-out use of a folk classic, aimed at togetherness and harmony, to make money with an unhealthy, addictive product.

Yeah I loved that one. It's amazing how stupid people love to have opinions on things just because there's a keyboard in front of them.
