The trouble with Odd Sock is that he doesn't realize that Rome already fell. He's like Imperium. Waited for ever to get his invitation to EFCL. He finally got in and a week later, it collapsed.

You do realize that at the end of the story, Javert never manages to bring Jean Valjean to justice, and is so consumed by his own failure that he hangs himself...
