The second one was a lot better than the first. The 1st ep dragged on a bit, but I like N.A.T.A.L.I.E. and I like Joe. I'm glad he chopped down the mean lady's flowers! lol
Marvel shows always do these annoying things like making the bioskin stuff fall off so easily, and having Riri running around with the piece of hood in her hand instead of putting it in her pocket.

Epsidoes 4 to 6, don't read if you don't want spoilers.
Well, that was...an ending? I guess? I mean surely even in 2022 when this was filmed they coudln't have thought a season 2 was a sure thing. But that was a total cliffhanger which in 2025 is almost certain to never be resolved. Even if we see Riri for 8 seconds in the background of an Avengers movie or something it's not like they're going to bring up that she made a deal with Satan.
I guess the heist crew were all evil, then? Because last week I thought they were maybe meant to be lovable Robin Hood-types with only John being a bad guy (and Parker corrutped by the hood) but this week they were all totally fine with murdering Riri. Then they weren't in the last episode. Bye?
It's not like it was all bad or anything: Zeke continued to be entertaining and I'm glad they didn't have him go completely evil at the end. I really like Zelma in the her scenes, the first especially with the magic dimension felt more alive than a lot of the shows The actress did a really good job.
She would have been a better lead character than Riri, to be honest.
It's funny how they still don't get to the point where Riri is actually a hero? All she ends up doing is cleaning up her own mess. Then she makes a deal with Satan. I don't know, have her save some kittens or something to make her a bit more likable?
The actor playing Mephisto did a good job, I thought they'd make it more comedic given who he is but he was more sinister than wacky.

Episode 5 is the best one so far, imo. FINALLY THEY DO SOMETHING.
There are things I really like about this series and things I don't like so I will say them before I forget. OK
I like the acting, I like the actors, the special effects are movie quality, and I partially like the writing (which is the weird part). I like the dialogue, but the story is not told well, if that makes sense. When the characters are interacting with each other it is good, but the story that should move them along has the weirdest pacing. Joe wasn't friends with Riri long enough to be mad enough to nearly turn evil, he wasn't in jail long enough to be so easily taken by the dark side. WAS HE? This show has nearly 6 hours to tell a story, but it feels like they waited until the 5th hour to start telling it.
Obviously they were assuming they would get a S2, but they shouldn't have. If Riri was going to end up with any redeeming qualities, they should have included it in the season finale. Wanting to bring Natalie back in the flesh wasn't a noble enough goal to do a deal with the devil. It was selfish, and creepy, which she already knew after witnessing Xavier's reaction to AI Nat.
What was the point of all this? Is there a comic version where the story developed further?
And poor A.I. Natalie is still dead, but I guess her life didn't matter.
I don't think it's particularly accurate to any comic, I don't remember her ever making a deal with Mephisto (Spider-Man did one time to bring Aunt May back...it was not a popular story.)
Marvel Zombies - It's pretty good for what it is. Better than the What If? episode, though the animation still has that thing where the faces don't really look like they're showing emotion. It fares better in the action scenes: the opening of episode 2 with Shang-Chi and Katie escaping San Fransisco is great and the fight with Black Panther, Spider-Man and Ant-Man('s head) versus Zombie Thanos is very fun. It doesn't shy away from the gore or killing off big name characters, in fact almost everyone's dead by the end despite it finishing with a cliffhanger. It does focus more on the Phase 4 (or whatever fucking Phase we're on characters) with Kamala being the lead character but hey I like Kamala and it's nice Iman Vellani got to play her again. As a Hailee Steinfeld fan it's amsuing that this was on her "UPCOMING PROJECTS" for years when she dies ten minutes in. It's still held back by not really saying anything new about these characters or introducing anyone new: everything is like the movies remixed but with zombes. So, for example, Shang and Katie sing together in the Mad Max scene becaue they sang karaoke together in their movie and it's an established thing we know about the characters. You get Blade but he's pretty generic badass and he has Moon Knight's powers so he's not really what MCU Blade would have been like (except the generic badass part, probably.) Anyway, it seems to have had surprsingly high ratings so maybe we'll get another season in 3 years when nobody cares.
