What are your thoughts on Final Fantasy IX? - I haven't played it since it first came out and my memory of some of it is hazy. How would you rate it against VII and VIII? Specifically, story wise and tone.

In somewhat of an impulse click over at Demonoid I decided to download it and have another shot at it since out of all the FF games I think it's the one I've least committed myself to.

Never played it. But I am getting a decent vibe from it.

It's an attempt by Square to return to its roots after the FFVIII fiasco. The content is much more fantasy-oriented. It's almost like FF4-6 set in a 3D universe. I've read quite a bit about it.

I've seen a good deal of cutscenes and battle scenes (Very nice, those) which I can share.

In short, no idea.

ePSXe is an excellent Playstation emulator. It runs games 100% perfectly which means that you can just play FF games on the PC exactly like the Playstation versions.

As though if I needed more distractions!

Probably after Heroes and more advancements. One thing I will say: I'd definitely play it, based entirely on the battle scenes I saw.
