Mine Field Celebrity Deathday Thread

I know a George Lowe personally, he is a potter, and he isn't dead. It's so weird to see his name here.

RIP other G.L.

So the details on the Gene Hackman deaths are out and they're fucking terrible. The wife died of hantavirus around a week before Hackman. Hackman's body showed signs of advanced Alzheimer's, along with a host of other serious problems and finally had a heart attack. He hadn't eaten for long enough that there was nothing in his stomach and he maybe didn't know his wife was dead. The dog that died (2 others survived) died because it was in a crate. Whole thing took around 2 weeks before they found the bodies. Just fucking horrible. And the early article I read, where they interviewed his kids and they were going on about how he was in great health and they stayed in touch with him and how could this tragedy have happened? I have some thoughts about them but I won't say them here.

Local legend Bob Rivers passed away today. : ( He was only 68. Popular radio personality.

There are some fun facts on his page-he may be known in other places than just in the Pacific Northwest. He was an extra in 2 Star Trek Enterprise episodes. Many know him from his twisted tunes.

Not familiar with his radio work, but very familiar with his song parodies. "Cats in the Kettle" will always stick out in my mind.
