*MEOW CHOKE DEAD*

Cat killing, it's funny!

*MEOW CHOKE JEWS*

Cat hitler, or "kitler", doing the choking, not the other way round.

ELF RAPE

Something so soft and purdy as an elf basically deserves to get raped.

NATALIENATAILEANTIATLENATALEITNATAIELANTEIALTNATIEL

Natalie Portman is a looker.

I'll take us back to the start: (Menty, can we sticky and keep the spam split out on a regular basis?)

BONC! - Term first coined by Bobby T under the guise of 'Darth Ballz', a Jay & Silent Bob themed dual. The term relates to a purposeful mispelling of Jay's catchphrase 'Bongggg!'

First known appearance

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ Freestyle Thread - Long running thread theme started by CaptainWacky in the early days of the Mine Field, probably early 2003. These would usually be centred around Buffy, and would be semi-frequent, often carrying the same title.

The thread itself would consist of a less-than-serious script extract from an non-existent episode. It was far from unusual to see non-canon characters pop up in the middle of the script. Now a nearly-extinct practice.

First appearance - Long since pruned in the only Mine Field purge in September 2003.

&nbsp - A board glitch circa mid-2004 not only caused every user's avatar to be 'scrambled' (many abandoned account sport these to this day), but many older threads to sport this term throughout the text.

Looking back on some of the posts containing it, it largely seems to appear where two consecutive punctuation symbols appeared next together - for instance a closed brack & a comma.

It is now inserted on an infrequent basis into random threads as a nod to the server glitch. One of many we have witnessed here.

<td class="alt1Active" id="t21950" title="TO MY DEAR WIFE: During the p

A less well known board glitch that occurred in the back end of 2004. This strange HTML term surfaced for a few days in the Quick Reply area, and could not be removed. This forced users to 'Go Advanved' every time to post until fixed.

It spawned several threads in the Mine Field over the course of its appearance, as well as being posted within threads. Only one appears to have survived, which is intermittenly bumped.

Right here:

Tom Bombadil

Fictional Character from Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. Having been omitted from both the animated & movie adaptations made him a recurring figure in the Mine Field, practically since the first LotR movie premiered.

Donkey Kong

Large video-game based Monkey / Ape copyrighted by Nintendo and star of many games. The name came about as a mis-translation of 'Monkey Kong'. The big, dumb, barrell-chucking, Italian Plumber-loathing ape has long since been a staple of The Mine Field's random threads.

(See 'X Stunned Y')

X stunned Y

Regular nonsense thread where X & Y are replaced by random individuals - fictional or non-fictional. A common example would be 'Donkey Kong Stunned Tolkien'. This is based on former WWF / WWE wrestler 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin's finishing move - 'The Stunner' (or Stone Cold Stunner). It looks like this:

J.R.R. Tolkien, and other members of the immediate Tolkien family

J.R.R. Tolkien is the British author of The Lord of the Rings & The Hobbit amongst others. His family, notably Christopher Tolkien continued to update & publish his works after his death - or make a fast buck on his back, to the belief of some. His illustrious offspring also includes a paedo priest in the shape of Father John Tolkien.

The author Tolkien (quite a bastard himself, by all accounts) is the subject of much banter, frequently being the subject of X stunned Y threads, for instance.

The link below will take you to the oldest thread remaining in The Mine Field with Tolkien as the subject, post September 2003 prune.

AND MY AXE.

Popularized by Captain Wacky, it pretty much fits in after any list of anything, really. For the progenitor's mouth: "From Fellowship Of The Ring (movie) when the Fellowship is being formed and Legolas says "you have my bow" then Gimli says "and my axe!"

Good line.

Song I Wrote For _ _ _ _ _ _

Regular tribute 'song' thread started long ago by CaptainWacky. The general contents could include the simple pasting of an actual song's lyrics, sometimes with several subtle changes, something entirely original, or a melding of two or more songs.

This is the oldest such example in The Mine Field

Most of them can be found in here, with a few exceptions.

Top 5 of *Insert month*

Threads dedicated to that posters favourite celebrities of that month in order of where they rate on the posters personal preference of hotness.

First thread of it's kind was in March of 2006 here:

http://www.trollkingdom.net/forum/showthread.php?t=45213

Since then it has become a regular feature often incorporating joke entries as well.

Natalie Portman, Keira Knightley, Anna Paquin, Scarlett Johansson, Emma Watson, Michelle Trachtenberg, Eliza Dushku,

The celebrity women of the Mine Field. The subject of many picture posts and discussion as well as being mentioned in numerous threads of varying styles. Michelle Trachtenberg was the main draw in 2003 before almost completely dropping off the radar. Eliza Dushku also being another one that has totally disappeared from MF discussion and focus along with Emma Watson. Natalie, Keira, Anna and Scarlett are now the main celebrity women discussed with Scarlett holding the focus slightly over the other three at current time of writing.

An early Anna Paquin thread from 2003 in the style of a variation of the X stunned Y threads instead exchanging Stone Colds stunner finisher with Bret Harts finisher, the Sharpshooter. We also see Donkey Kong ringing the bell in this instance showing the juxtaposition of different styles to create a solid MF thread.

Neighbours
Subtitle: - Summer Hoyland, Sky Mangel & Janae Timmins-Hoyland

Australian soap opera running since 1985, regularly watched by Wacky & Myself, plus others who aren't as brave to admit it. Acting & script quality varies almost as much as the comings and goings of the cast. I am of the belief that it is often so bad, that it is good (much like daytime Kiwi soap Shortland Street)

Summer Hoyland is an underage actress frequently subject of taboo subjects by Captain Wacky.

Frighteningly - the first such reference I can find in the TK was made by myself

http://www.trollkingdom.net/forum/showthread.php?p=458354&highlight=summer#post458354

Sky Mangel is played by a fit actress with a very pleasant rack called Stephanie McIntosh. She is the half-sister of Jason Donavan, a flash-in-the-pan actor from the same soap who briefly launched a turgid singing career across the late 80's & early 90's (Just like Kylie Minogue, another actor from the series turned singer - with better results).

Here's a link to Sky Mangel Google Image search

Janae Timmins-Hoyland is played by another young actress with a great rack. Alas, she is 16 in RL (but looks much older). Wikipedia tells me she is played by Eliza Taylor-Cotter.

Here's an image search for you.

Recently Summer's baby brother Oscar Hoyland has become the butt of several references between Wacky and myself.

Murder She Wrote
Subtitle - Angela Lansbury / Jessica Fletcher

Popular long-running American Murder-Mystery show. The show exists in seemingly endless reruns, not only in The States, but in the UK on terrestrial TV.

The main character is played by 'Is she still alive?' British actress, Angela Lansbury (81), a former sister-in-law to Peter Ustinov, and a staple character actress. She is aped in numerous threads along with the show, prinicipally by CaptainWacky, who almost certainly made this reference his own. Eggs Mayonnaise also shares a healthy occasional reference-drop with this entry.

"Who Invented The Skip!"

A line from the Alan Partridge Show.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Partridge

"Who invented the skip" is a question he asks his callers in an episode called Watership Alan.

Here is an MP3 of the segment:

http://www.alan-partridge.co.uk/multimedia/soundclips/imalans01/s01e03/The_skip.mp3

Popular between myself and Wacky it has been mentioned many times in the Mine Field and there are a number of threads with "Who Invented The Skip" as the title.

Here is the first recorded instance of the saying back in 2004 (second post):

http://www.trollkingdom.net/forum/showthread.php?t=18176

Here are some threads started by myself and Wacky with the saying:

http://www.trollkingdom.net/forum/search.php?searchid=268445

There have also been many other references to it within threads since 2004.

The Great Khali

Large WWE wrestler from India who debuted last year some time. He quickly (and briefly) became the subject of a number of threads (along the lines of "X stunned Y").

As quickly as the trend appeared on the horizon, it passed by and disappeared in the other direction...

Link to all the Khali threads:

Whale Cornea!

Method of spam, though mostly a method of expressing apathy started by Harkley. Would often be posted at random intervals in any particular thread, with a linked image from LoNAF of aforementioned Whale Cornea.

http://harkley.lonaf.com/hosting/harkley/whalecornea.jpg

There you go!

X is browsing!

Term usually applied to any individual spotted browsing a forum who doesn't have the 'invisible' option set. This started with the now seemingly disappeared former EFCL & TBBS poster Geck, when he first registered.

The trend has since become as scarce as Geck himself.

A number of examples can be found here:
