Great Neil Gaiman movie. Filmed down the road from my old house. IN BRIGHTON BITCHES.

I was telling Wacky earlier. This was filmed in 2004 so it is more than likley that I was actually sitting in my place which is right on the beach spamming the Minefield as this scene was shot.

Yes, I noticed that she's hot.

Neil Gaiman was the mastermind genius behind Sandman. A deity among storytellers, able to weave intricate plots and ideas out of seeminly the dreamworld itself. And he doesn't dissapoint in the surreal Mirrormask. The world is something just like Morpheus woud create. Wolfy reminded me about it on MSN last night so I went and found and downloaded it. Glad I did, it's brilliant.

It's visually stunning not for it's photrealism but for it's surrealism which is like a computer generated window into the mind of Neil Gaiman.

Anyone who has read Gaimans works before knows how ingenius the guy is allready.
Dave Mckean directs here, he's a long time writing partner of Gaiman and famous for his incredible visuals. His directing here is top-notch. There is not much going against Mirrormask. I guess that it is lacking in mass-appeal and is slightly whimsical in places, but it's just great and has to be seen.

So have some screenshots instead and then go procure and watch.

I loved the visuals in that flick, honest and truly. I walked out of the theater loving the film itself, but the people I went with started ragging on the plot (saying it was cliche) so I got a squirrely feeling about it.

I guess it's worth another viewing. Check that, I know it's worth another viewing, this time without any snotty film school people peering over my shoulder.

Film school students are some of the most pretentious people on the planet.

If it doesn't have a fat man, a woman smoking in a nighty, no dialogue and isn't filmed in black & white with "FIN" at the end they will find something to bitch about.

Have you read Sandman?

To my shame, I've only read as much as you posted in the media board, although I devoured that in a day... many of my friends in HS were big into Sandman and Preacher and the like, dark comics you know, and I think I was just in the wrong mindset.

I just noticed that TPB has a whole book section, I might just download a ton of comics when I get the chancy.

So you've actually read the ones I posted. IN ORDER?

And you haven't even thought to ask me to upload the next one which is FAR AND AWAY the best issue so far and where the series steps up about ten thousand paces?

I stopped through lack of interest but now I have broadband I could actually knock out tons more.

That's how it should be. It makes the kind of sense that doesn't out of order.

Ok, get ready for Sandmans sister then. I'll start now.

I'M GIDDY WITH ANTISKIPATION.

My studies can wait, damn it. I need a good read. Thanks, Mentalist. You're an angel!

Link!

i wish Mirror mask were a little longer and more in depth

I'm about to make a post in Speak Freely as soon as I get this issue up with all the links and the correct order. Just hold on a mo.

I agree about the av.

I'm looking forward to that movie, whenever it comes out on DVD. I really liked Stardust and the other book Gaiman was involved in.

I also dig the fact that Gaiman pays tribute to those that have come before him, H. P. Lovecraft in particular.

After reading that last installment, I'm jonesing for more. That's seriously good, and now I know where my goth girlfriend was coming from that one Halloween she dressed up as Death.

"I'm Death, you know, from Sandman? C'mon!" she was heard to say.

"Sorry hon, I haven't read it. Do you think it will clash with my hobo costume?" I replied.
