Movies you hated, but critics loved

Tisiphone

Elitist Redheaded Trollop
Because I kept thinking of movies that I didn't like, but everyone else did.

American Beauty
The English Patient
There's Something about Mary
Crash
The Departed
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (I know, I know)
Forest Gump
Once Upon a Time in America

I can't think of any.

FORREST GUMP?!!! omg best movie ever! lol ok maybe not the best but RUN FORREST RUN!

Minority Report. Interesting futuristic designs, but I couldn't stand the actual movie.

The English Patient
Crash
Breaking the Waves
Gladiator
As Good As It Gets
My Fair Lady (the show too)

There are many others but this is off the top of my head.

My problem with Forest Gump is that it was too overexposed.

As Good as it Gets was funny the first time I watched it. (Mind you, we had just finished watching that horrible Starship Troopers so anything after that was Oscar-worthy). But it doesn't do anything for me anymore.

Same here. I watched it several times, and the more I watched it, the less I liked or cared about any of the characters, and the more I thought they were all selfish whiney bleeding-heart lost causes. The assumptions that the movie makes about what is "correct" thinking slowly started to piss me off.

But life IS like a box of cocklates.

The only movie I can think of that I didn't like but the critics seemed to love was Chicago. It just didn't do anything for me.

BE STILL MY GAY HEART!

(OK it wasn't perfect)

I loved the Departed, especially when DiCaprio gets his fucking head blown off at the end, for absolutely nothing. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPS

Christ, just pick any new one. The only thing worth anything lately was I Am Legend, and I even had that figured out once I saw the DOG

I'M SORRY!! lol.. if it helps I loved Moulin Rouge!

Where’s all mah soul sistas
Lemme hear ya’ll flow sistas

Lost in Translation sucked ass. Easily the most boring non-movie ever.

Not go on a Bill Murray hating spree(because Eggs will kill us), but I didn't think much of The Life Aquatic. Odd really, because I liked Lost in Translation and both movies have a similar dry humour. I just didn't find Life Aquatic very interesting.

I need to see Life Aquatic, I remember downloading it a while back but I think it's on the drive that got fried...

Bill Murray is just as capable of ruining a movie as he is of saving it. He's certainly not perfect. But he really was the only person in the world who could be Bob Harris at that time.

Adaptation
American History X
Thelma & Louise
Fahrenheit 911 & virtually anything by Michael Moore (though I thought Columbine was at least thought-provoking)
Million Dollar Baby
Leaving Las Vegas
The Sweet Hereafter
Gods & Monsters
Punch Drunk Love
Shadow of the Vampire (Willem Dafoe, John Malkovich)
About Schmidt
Mystic River
Munich

Titanic
Meet The Fokkers

I'll tell you what film I loved and the critics love, Juno. Go out, go now and go see it, it was truly awesome. Funny, interesting and touching. And I can't get the soundtrack out of my head.

^yeah, that's on my list of "must-sees". Originally I was thinking "meh", but now that people have been telling me about it I've decided to give it a go.
